2018 Metro Trouble Code Question
 

Hi I bought my wife a Metropolitan last summer and it is a nice scooter. However last week she went to get it started and it did not start up for her. I am not sure she followed the right sequence and might be been confused. When I tried to help her I could hear electric fuel pump spinning for just a few seconds but when I pulled the brake and hit the starter switch all I could hear was a slight hum. I kicked over the starter and it started but the check engine light came on. I shut it off and tried to start it again and again the starter just hummed. I checked battery voltage at 12.8v. I did not think the battery was down as I charged it about a month ago just to make sure it did not get low over the winter. That is the background. Here is the question. I purchased from Honda the tool to pull the codes. I connected it. Turned the key on. It flashes 8 long and two short flashes. In the repair manual there is a code 8-2 and a code 82-1. Code 8-2 is Throttle Position Reading High. 82-1 is Fast idle solenoid malfunction. I suspect it is code 8-2 but I am not sure how it could relate to my problem AND how would Honda flash code 82-1. I don't suspect it would flash the long code 82 times an then a short flash once.
