2007 Honda Ruckus - low power and a engine tick
Hi everyone,
I just picked up a 2007 ruckus that was sitting. I got it running and it ran great but there was some engine clicking.
The gas tank ran low and it would not go past 1/4 throttle or 8 mpg. It would bogg and stall.
I cleaned the tank, carb, replaced spark plug and air filter. I also checked the valve gaps and they seem spot on.
Now it will idle fine but runs best when I cover the airbox intake. If I gas it bogs and dies. I searched for an airbox leak and everything looks good.
Here is a video of the engine and the noise. Thanks for any advice.

If it runs better when you cover the intake, it means your main jet is too big (too much fuel at above idle RPM). The clicking sounds like it’s coming from the variation side. Remove the variatior and belt- does the sound remain?
