1986 Honda Elite 80 Scooter
Hey guys,
I have recently acquired a 1986 Honda Elite 80 from a good friend of mine. When I received it, it was not running. I got a new battery, spark plug, fresh gas, and some starter fluid and I was able to fire it up and get her running. After cruising around the neighborhood for maybe 20 minutes she died on me and I had to push her home. I took apart the gas tank and tried to clean it out (I noticed lots of rust/corrosion because the scooter sat in my friend's garage for so long). I got a new fuel filter and I took apart the carb and cleaned it out as best as I could. I also replaced the electronic choke (I had read online that it was a highly faulty part and I went ahead and replaced it). Ever since I did all of this, I have not been able to get the scooter to maintain an idle or stay alive for more than just a few seconds. I have messed with the idle adjustment screws as well. I have tried cleaning the carb several times now (taking it all apart and putting it back together) and it hasn't been significantly dirty. I still haven't been able to get the scooter running properly. BOTTOM LINE IS: I have a fresh battery in the scooter and I can only get the scooter to fire up with starter fluid and then the engine appears to rev very high for just 2-3 seconds and then it dies and shuts off. I barely have any throttle response (if any at all) I am unsure what else I should try, any suggestions or ideas?? I just wanna ride Thanks, Austin |

I am guessing you still have problem with a jet that is plugged. Did you soak it in carb cleaner.
