tweeter speakers question on a prelude 96
so, there's these tiny tweeter speakers by the top dash of my prelude 96. but i never seen anyone mention about them. im new to car audio and i was wondering if anyone ever upgrade these things? if so, which tweeters would you recommend? and, i noticed some front speakers are sold with tweeters attached.. wouldn't that cause problems with the existing tweeters (with crossover and junk)?
one more thing. does anyone have a cheap generic amp 4x35 they can donate to me out of their own kindness? i would like to play around with this if possible. please email me rookieyear@gmail.com for my address!
THANKS!

i pulled the carpet off the grills, and cut holes on the side that faces forward, cause the tweeters holes face each other, and dont point to the driver and passenger. So then I put 3.5"speakers back there and re glued some black speaker fabric back on and there ya have it, instant upgrade.

You can put some 4x6's back there. There's a thread around here where someone did that and it came out nice

As a warning, if you decide to use 4x6's, make sure the depth of the speakers are shallow. I was barely able to squeeze the speaker into the tweeter compartment on the driver side. (There's a silver box for the EL guages behind the factory tweeter)
Good luck and keep us posted

i had no intention of doing that. actually was just inquiring about what people do with their little tweeters.. whether they upgrade them or not (with other little tweeters). not 4x6's lol! thats overkill for me. if i do upgrade them, i will likely buy some DIY home audio tweeters from partsexpress.
so, how did it sound for you? does those 4x6 handle the high's well?

basically any new tweeter is going to be an upgrade just because they are 12 years old as they sit now.......but in all honesty i would be amazed if you would actually hear a difference
personally I would start upgrading your other satelite speakers first.
and why do you want a 140 watt 4 channel amp???? Most cd players are 200+ watts!

Re: tweeter speakers question on a prelude 96 (EFz6er)
this is the little bugger i might replace them with. it's on sale too!

doesn't an addition of an amp make things sound a little better or clearer even if it is just extra 35watt per channel? or by adding the an amp, it takes away from the head unit? im on a super lean budget, don't plan on updating anything else at the moment.

You could do a whole component set up which will include new tweeters. I got a Infinity Ref 6.5 components a couple of years ago and the tweeter fits in there perfectly.

Re: tweeter speakers question on a prelude 96 (slyx620)
Guy said he's on a budget, I don't think he wants to buy 120-200 dollar pair of component speakers. My Alpine SPC-600 coaxials were MORE than enough, handled the highs VERY well. I paid 106 with tax at best buy, but found a pair of brand new, never opened on ebay for 65 shipped, power seller too...guess I overpaid best buy, but that's what happens when you're ansty and rush things.

Replacing the tweeter will probably help a lot because your stock ones are probably blown. I'm going to replace mine with 4x6 but when I plugged in my stock ones(previous owner disconnected them), I noticed a little bit difference
