Strange H22 OBD1 Problems. Any help!?

I know this is the Prelude forum, but no one seems to want to help in the hybrid forum. So I will ask you all since you will probably know.
We are having a very very rough idle, almost like it wants to shake the car apart, it falls from 750-800ish to about 400 hangs there for a second and comes back up. Has a SMALL hesitation to it while under load and light throttle. Its very very hard to explain.

Anyway other very strange things. If the EGR vacuum line is removed from the IM the idle increases (which is normal) but as soon as I put my finger over the nipple on the IM it kills the engine. This is also true for the IAB's, if I hold the IAB's closed at idle and remove the vacuum hose and clog the vacuum nipple on the IM with my hand it instantly kills the engine.

Since that I cleaned the IACV, made idle slightly better. Swapped the MAP sensor for a known good working one. Swapped the ICM and Coil for a known good working set. Adjusted timing to 15degrees before tdc (but the idle is so F'd that I don't trust it)

Here is the biggest ?????? I am only at 28-30psi of fuel pressure at the filter. When I remove the vacuum hose for the FPR it only raises to about 35. We took it for a short drive and got a VSS, Knock, and EGR CEL.

What I don't understand why the VSS is throwing a code?!?!? We reset it and it did not do it again. The CEL did not come on until several minutes after driving the car, which it was warmed up WAY before we drove it. Bad ecu? Not enough Fuel Pressure?
We have a Walbro 255 pump coming. But the Plugs in all four were SOOO White, I know it had to have detonated, to throw a knock CEL. But would low fuel pressure cause it to run that lean?

Can anyone tell me what Fuel Pressure I should have at idle with the Vacuum hooked up? Thanks for reading sorry it is so damn long.

Swapped a OBD1 H22 into a 94 EJ Civic.
Using a p13 4w ecu (that is what came with the swap.......) Not real happy about it.
Replaced:
Plugs (twice)
Wires
Cap
Rotor
T-Belt
WaterPump
Manual T-Belt Tensioner

Your idle issues make me thing the IACV is bad.

I also have to ask, are you 100% sure the cam timing is spot on? Shake the car apart idle usually means something physical, not electrical, is wrong.

Also, as you know, that fuel pressure is way low, I'd check for clogs in the line, maybe run a bottle of fuel treatment through it if it ever gets running enough to do so.

Thanks for the reply, I knew you Prelude guys were good for it!

We have went through EVERYTHING. Checked timing about 10 times (I've changed about 50 Honda Timing belts and the last one I did before this was 2 teeth off, so that is the FIRST thing I looked for.)

Did a compression test, 250 +/- 5 in all 4. The Pump is a stock Honda Civic Pump from 1994........... That is most likely are problem. But will low fuel pressure cause extremely lean conditions and detonation?

And if it detonates will the Knock sensor throw a code?

What sensors do I HAVE to have for the EGR with a p13?

The knock sensor should only throw a code if it is disconnected, so I don't think that should be a problem.

BUT, I'm not totally sure the civics have a knock sensor stock, and if not, even though your engine harness may have a clip for it, there isn't anything going from the shock tower to the ecu for it.

The p13 runs with a full lineup, knock, and everything else like every other ecu, tps, map, egr lift, iat, coolant temp, etc.

Low fuel pressure can definitely cause it to run lean, but that should not be causing that high idle. In fact, I'd go ahead and say they're entirely unrelated, but I've been wrong before.

Good luck with it. I suppose straighten out the fuel pressure issue and then see what's up.

Im having the same problem with my car too and I have changed all the parts listed above. I am also running the p13 4ws ecu. This has been driving me nuts because I have already adjusted timing and even put brand new injectors.

No I made my own wiring harness. I am an electrician so it was not hard to do at all. But I was not getting a CEL until 5-6min of driving at low throttle. Very confusing because WOT was hit 4-5 times prior to throwing a CEL as well as reaching 7500rpms at WOT.

But the CEL came on at Part throttle and around 2800 RPMS.

Anyway My idle problem is not a high idle problem, it is low and rough. Tom. night when the fuel pump arrives we are pulling the timing cover and quadruple checking the BS Belt for phasing to the rest of the rotating assembly.
