Well i just picked up a 2000 Type SH and it runs great. But i did notice that when i shift, my rpms hold for a split-second and then drop. I tested it by holding my speed and then pushing in the clutch and let off the gas like i would be shifting and it does still. The only time it doesn't do it is while decelerating (off the gas or even slightly in it but still decelerating).

I hope this is enough info. I just don't remember my friends SH doing it and it makes shifting a little jerky. I'm use to driving a harsher clutch so maybe it's just me but i thought i'd check. Thanks

My car does the same thing, i thought it was because of the fidanza flywheel, what could make a car do this?

Well mine is bone stock. Besides, a lightweight flywheel would drop faster because the lack of momentum(weight).

Now w/ a 8lb fidanza and a p28, my cars rpms drop almost to zero between shifts! it sucks!

sounds like a problem with the throttle body.

Ya, Blake's right. Check the throttle cable adjustment.

oh, i dont think its a major problem, but it get annoying when you have a girl in the car , its like the car jumps foward between 1st and 2nd when shifting around 3000rpms.
Blacktt7 is it the same thing for you between 1st and 2nd?

Mine drops to like 500rpms and pops back up to normal idle really quick

go into crome and raise the ignition timing on the first two columns a couple degrees. Then raise the duty cycle of the IACV until it stops falling on its face.

So adjust throttle cable? Mine's done this for a while, wasn't sure if it was my shitty 169k mile stock clutch or what.
I'll check it when I get the whip back.

mine does the exact same thing. i always figured it was inertia or something to do w/ physics i should check mine as well.

Seems logical enough. I'm sure lots of prelude owners don't shift as quickly as humanly possible all the time. You won't find many of those people here, but nevertheless..

That, or the throttle cable come to mind.

Yeah, I didn't get that either. I have an 8lb flywheel and I still have to wait a little while shifting for the rpms to come down.

I've just learned to shift a little slower and concentrate a little more on shifting til i get down. It never really learched forward. Just made for jumpy or over-reved shifts.

I'll have to check everything out to see if i can find anything tomorrow while i change my oil.

Noticed the same thing in my '97 SH. I just assumed it was the heavy stock flywheel keeping its' inertia once the clutch is engaged. Haven't actually tested it, but if this is true it should seem worse when depressing the clutch under WOT as opposed to just cruising (more momentum under acceleration). Anyone have experience with their stock AND replaced lightweight flywheel notice this phenomenon?

Yeah, I've had to learn to slow my shifts a little; with my short shifter I've had a couple nasty grinds from 1st to 2nd I think from shifting too fast

Yeah my car's done the same thing ever since I've gotten it, and yeah the idle goes back down to about 500 rpms then goes up to normal. For whatever reason when I used to get a code for the tps and the cel came on, when I shifted the rpms would drop imidiately and the idle slowly glided down, I never did figure out why.

I did some quick looking around when i changed the oil a week ago but found nothing abnormal. I've just gotten used to it. It's nothing serious and it's probably just the way honda designed it.
