ok guys my car is obiously broken in very much with that kind of mileage, it is in very very good condition no problems with it, now with that high of mileage can i still put a super charger and maintain dependability of my car or wut do i risk, thanx prelude community

It 50k shouldn't be a problem for an sc, just run a compression test, and if you're really picky, a leakdown test. If everything checks out, you're good to go. Good luck.

reliable tho? hahaha, from my experience forced induction h22's are far from "reliable", reliable as in not putting much money to maintain parts/repair parts.

You could supercharge a prelude with 150k miles as long as a compression and leakdown test yield good results... boosting isnt near as reliable as the stock setup, but its safe, defentily on 50k. Makes sure you have it dyno-tuned correctly and you should be fine.

50K? thats absolutely nothing for a Honda. seriously, we got engines that dont really even "break-in" till about 60k. compression test then boost the **** outa it. go for it man.

dude, i just bought a 4th gen with 50k on it, feels like a brand new car. As long as ur compression and leakdown tests yield good results, ur good to go.

^^ what he said, it'll happen eventually. There are the same inherent risks of boosting a 50k mi motor as there are boosting a 10k mile motor. Just make sure you have plenty of "rainy day money" lying around. FI is reliable after the first year where all the kinks and problems show up, then its regular maintainence from then on out.

A FI car will never be as reliable as a stock car (duh). BTW, go with a turbo instead... you'll spend about the same and your lude will have much more potential (in regards to being able to fit intercooler, run higher boost, fit a variety of different turbos to the setup). But this thread isnt about to SC or to turbo.

Anyways, i think i've said enough, 50k is fine as long as the compression and leakdown numbers are good. make sure you perform a compression and leak down, dont skip the step....

You need excellent standalone engine management and great tuning to make any sort of Forced Induction last on stock H22a internals.

It's sad when I think about how many people I've personally had this discussion with, only for them to ignore me, spend all this money, blow their motor, and look like an idiot. And a poor one riding the bus at that.

It's all about the engine managment. I run an 11.5:1 A/F ratio on the high cam, and still put down 227hp on a mustang dyno @6psi. Most people run 12 or 12.5:1 ratio, but I've never seen them gain any power in doing so, so why do it? I'm 100% against running an SC car without an intercooler that lean. I've put 87,000km (60,000mi) on my SC. no problems YET. I autocross, drag and go to the track... run the car rich and with a good amount of timing retard, and you'll be fine.
