Prelude SiR?
Is there a such thing as a prelude SiR? If there is what are the differences?
|
Re: Prelude SiR? (ProjectTib)
There are difference in the SiRs found in Japan compared to over here in the US. Now I know there is not suppose to be any SiRs in the US, but there are. I have one. From what I have found is that there were some shipped in through Canada and that is why they were considered SiR, even though they are essentially no different from the Si. I couldn't understand why it cost me an extra $20 a month for insurance, because in the system it was listed as an SiR and that is what caused me to research it more. The title even lists it as an SiR. Hope this helps.

Cool.. but what is different about them? Like do they have the red valve cover like type-r do? and what about the H on the car is it Red or Black?
|
Re: (ProjectTib)
In Japan, I believe they had the blue valve cover and the red H badges, but I don't know for sure. The SiRs over here were normal Sis. Mine was a 92 so it had a h23 when i first got it. So it was pretty much just a label thing. Its kinda cool to say that I have an SiR even though its not any different from the normal Si besides the insurance premium.

Wow now i saw something about an SiR Type-S?!? I thought they were different? What are the differences and were they both made in the 4th gen body style?

Re: Prelude SiR? (ProjectTib)
The SiR was a Japan only trim level. The 5g SiR was roughly equivalent to the US 5g base.
edit: Canadian trim levels for the 4g were S, SR, SR-V and for the 5g were Base, SE, SH. You could get a Civic "SiR" if you wanted, though... |
Well based on that chart the JDM H22 used in the 92-96 VTEC is the same motor used in the 97-01 SiR except the SiR has LSD tranny right?
So does that mean that if I have a 94 Prelude Si w/ a JDM H22a and LSD tranny could I badge that as an SiR? or would that be rice because its a different gen even thought its got the same motor/trans? |
Re: (ProjectTib)
If your car didn't come as an SiR, it would be rice to label it something it isn't.

Re: Prelude SiR? (ProjectTib)
look man all the guys r completly wrong. the 5th generation was introduced as the S and Sh. In Japan the 5th Generation was introduced as the Si and SiR. Now, the difference is the Si is left handed(the cockpit is on the right side of the car). The SiR Is Hondas red emblem Prelude (very rare). the car is left handed and comes standered with 4 wheel steering. thats the difference and this car is to die for. im frantically searching for the manuel model. the Sir also comes standered with a 7in touchscreen Honda . oh yeah the automatic transmission is an E-shift or tiptronic.http://www.japan-partner.com/P....html

theres no such thing as a "red emblem" prelude. from my understanding, the S Spec in japan was an alternative to those who didnt want the ATTS system found in the top model Type S, the S Spec came with LSD. if you dont believe me go find a jdm h22 with lsd, it will say its off a S Spec. and that touchscreen your talking about is navigation, in japan, every freaking car has that option so its nothing special. i had enough of newbs with 1 post posting false info. here, straight from the source, honda japan: http://www.honda.co.jp/auto-li...pment/ |
Re: Prelude SiR? (honda_andy)
lol, I thought about responding then I noticed that this was "red emblem" guy's first post and he brought up a three month old thread for no apparent reason...

Re: Prelude SiR? (A Blue Lude)
yea thats crazy yo

Re: Prelude SiR? (westsideaznboi)
to answer the original question, the JDM SiR is pretty much the equivalent to your American Base Model. 200bhp regular (black-top) H22a - with no LSD as standard.
The main difference being that it could be BB6 or BB8 as 4ws was optional. Gavz |

The 4g lude had an SiR model there and it came with red badges, I've seen them on the car myself and no I don't think they're cool or anything thats just how they came. The 5g SiR that you guys are referencing is the SiR-S Spec, and your info on it is correct, LSD with a 220hp h22a. Red Top. The only blue top jdm engines were the h23a vtec that came in the auto accord wagons and the f20b. I'm under the impression that europe has at least one blue top, but in japan the ATR has a red top, not blue. |
