prelude h2b trans?
why dont i read about preludes swapping too the b-series trans
like all the civics using the h2b kit i need a new a trans and i am wondering y it doesnt fit as well as it does in a civic? is the mount different on the lude or is linkage and axels a problem, it would be nice too have more transmission choices, also what clutch do u guys think will be good for my set up? 1992 si h22a motor camp1320 header full mandrell exhaust adj cam gears milled and ported head ported im and tb sri 75 wet shot n20 tuned on a vafc i will be running both slicks and street tires |
Re: prelude h2b trans? (GoldLudeRay)
the H2B plate lets the tranny mount to the car and mount to the engine. doesnt fit the opposite way unfortunately!

Re: prelude h2b trans? (WhiteBB2)
let me try and make that a little clear
H2B allows the B series tranny bolt to the car and the H series engine in a CIVIC/TEG, wont work on a prelude with a B series tranny. |

somebody needs too try the h2b kit on a prelude

Re: (GoldLudeRay)
someone needs to tell me why a b series tranny is so beneficial to preludes.....
i mean seriously, the only thing i can see is the aftermarket parts (which most luders don't even utilize) i guess the only benefit is availibity. but just bite down and buy a h22 tranny. |

Re: (petern101)
exactly, h23 tranny all the way https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

Re: (petern101)
I can see the benefit of Bisimoto's H2D conversion as the D tranny is smaller, lighter and proven tough, but I agree the B tranny probably isn't worth it.

Re: (Hawkze_2.3)
I don't think gears/reliability are a big reason for the decision.....
Placement and shift rods mixed with axle angle..... Throw a 4.6-4.7FD at the H series and let the fun begin. <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Hawkze_2.3 »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">I can see the benefit of Bisimoto's H2D conversion as the D tranny is smaller, lighter and proven tough, but I agree the B tranny probably isn't worth it.</TD></TR></TABLE> Wouldn't BISI's be an F2D? lol https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif |

Haha, true true. I still wouldn't mind attempting that...I already have a flexible clutch line, so as long as there are hydro D-trannies it seems like all I would need to do is sort out the tranny mount and driveshafts. Oh well, daydreams... https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif |
so does the d series tranny fit in a lude chassie?
|
Re: (GoldLudeRay)
I think the hardest part would be getting the shift rods to work correctly and not interfere with the exhaust.

Considering it's smaller than an H-tranny and our giant engine bays, I'm sure it will. |

so were still thinkin a h22 trans will be the best for my set-up

Re:
its the final drive and that 2nd gear on the type-R and B16 transmission that make the H2B so successful, coupled with the fact that the ideal geometry is retained.
92-96 H series transmissions actually have shorter first gears than the b series transmissions and in some instances 3rd 4th and 5th. the h series transmission transmission being inferior is a myth. what should be attempted is the transmission from a DA Gsr which is cable operated and have a favourable final drive & 2nd gear a B series transmission in a prelude chassis is impractical. plus chipping away your block, having whomever is doing your engine mount first laugh at you (to your face) and then having them fabricate something costly and purely experimental, is purely up to whomever wants to try it. |

People seem to bash the H trans only when not used in a Prelude/Accord chassis. Coincidence? No. The 1st guy I ever talked with in person years and years ago with an H22 in an EK complained about not being able to shift above 8000 or so. Purely the Cable in a Civic problem. A pack of zip ties and the Bisi trick and he was all good. 2 zip ties every 6" on the cables. I personally want to swap an H22 into my Civic in the future and would go H2B all the way and it has nothing to do with my thoughts concerning the internals of an H trans. Placement-Axle angle are the key. In 2001 L'Natural was running 10's N/A with a stock H trans and had the similar shifting problems. |
