P1457 - Vapor Canister Vent Valve/Solenoid
Code P1457 has come up. I want to check the Vapor Canister Vent Valve/Solenoid. Went to Rock Auto to see what the part looks like, but I'm seeing two completely different parts listed as compatible. Same thing on Amazon.
1. Where precisely do I find the part on the car?
2. Why do the sites show two different parts--are they both installed??!?

Re: P1457 - Vapor Canister Vent Valve/Solenoid
What year of Prelude do you have? The reason for two different part numbers is because there were two different canisters and solenoids used on the preludes from 97-01. The 97-98 Prelude has the longer skinnier canister, while the 99-01 models have the 2nd style canister that looks shorter and wider. Here are pictures of what I am talking about, top is the 97-98 canister and the bottom two are the 99-01 version.

It's a 2001. The Rock Auto website I linked (and Amazon) both show TWO for 2001. From what you've shown, I'm thinking the right one is the FIRST one on the Rock Auto site:

Update:
We replaced the vapor canister shut valve, but the problem persists. Our state allows a pass on emissions after spending $150 on diagnosis. We did that, but need to fix the issue.
The good news is that we have a mechanic shop's diagnosis. They told us we need two parts replaced, both are valves:
See attached diagram.
The problem is that the names of these parts make my head swim. Many are very similar. I'm not finding these exact items for sale, by name, but I do find a lot that sound close. Any tips on finding the right part, or the Honda part number, would be excellent. I have yet to call Honda, not sure if they'll give me the part number or not.
EDIT: I think THIS is the right part for bypass solenoid valve. The TWO WAY VALVE seems to be the harder to find part. Maybe Honda only?

Take the guessing out of it and just call the parts dept at a dealership man. When they find the part, ask for the part number so you can compare and tell them you're going to call around first before and price check you order. I doubt they would care at all.

I did call the dealership, and they were difficult about it. I said I had one part here and wasn't sure which one, asked for part numbers for both. The guy didn't want to give it! After I managed to get him to tell me the part number and cost, I vowed never to go there again. (I should mention that I had a terrible time getting a person just to answer the phone for parts. It kept ringing back to a receptionist.)
But in the end my retired father-in-law went to the local pick-and-pull where he picked up a couple of these off of some other Honda with the same compatible part numbers. Instead of $200+ we spent a few bucks. I guess that's what the Honda parts guy was afraid of.
