i dont know i think that a few bb4 are in usa , too
im the first in germany with a bb4 so i have to pay a lot of money to registrate the car because the honda dealer cant find anything about specs from the car so they have to make :
emission test
top speed test
weight
and a lot of more and i have to pay nearly 1300$ only for registrate the car

the next guy who will buy a bb4 in germany will have it a lot of easier to registrate his car because he can use my data that will be saved by honda germany

@pics
sorry i just forgot to make pics
maybe i make some tomorrow

i need a smaller one to enter the car from the right side because the cockpit is smaller in the right side and my legs are touching the steering wheel

I'm from the highlands of scotland and i have just bought an imported JDM BB4 prelude.
You're right that they have no ABS, no 4WS, and no airbag but mine does have an electric sunroof.
It also has A/C, Electric folding mirrors and cruise control.

As you can see in the first pic, it has a sunroof.

so i have a bb2...but the motor that came with the car is a f22b DOHC...so would that mean the motor was swapped? I have been confused by that since I purchased the car 8 months ago. Any help would be good. And if i need parts which should i get them for the h23 or SOHC f22

I told you to ask me if you had anymore questions.

1987 USDM Prelude Si = BA3

The original post by Mgags is horribly inaccurate. Not saying anything about him directly, as I'm sure he just copied/pasted it from another source. I've seen this elsewhere.

Just to give you one bad example. It says the 84-86 Prelude "Sedan" has a chassis code of AE. Well, obviously there's no such thing as a Prelude Sedan, and the AE chassis code is for a 3-door 1300 (1.3L) Civic CRX. Not an L300 CRX. The Prelude chassis code for that era is AB.

Hi, great decoding list, thanks for this! I have a question, though. I have a 1986 Prelude DX coupe, and your list says the 4th and 5th positions for that would be AE. Mine is AB, which isn't on your list. Any idea what the AB stands for?

4th & 5th POSITION, 1984-86 BODY TYPE I ENGINE
AD = Accord
AE = Prelude Sedan
AE = Civic, l300cc CRX
AF = Civic, l500cc CRX
AG = Civic, 1300cc 3 door
AH = Civic, l500cc 3 door
AK = Civic, 1500cc 4 door
AN = Civic, Wagon
AR = Civic, Wagon 4X4
BA = Accord

Oops, never mind -- I just realized the question was answered two replies above mine. OK, so AB is correct for 1983-87 Prelude. If anyone has a more accurate source for the VIN decoder, I would love to see it. Thanks.
