Default Need to confirm how to mark flywheel for ignition timing on H22A

I have an aftermarket flywheel in my H22A and it does NOT have the ignition timing marks so I am unable to set the ignition timing BUT recently I read that you can mark the flywheel with whiteout when you bring the No. 1 Piston up to TDC and you can use that whiteout mark to set your timing...

Can someone who has done this confirm with me this will work? Thanks.

spark timing is supposed to be 15 degrees before tdc...your talking about marking it at tdc

get a stock flywheel and see how many teeth the tdc mark is from the timing mark

I've never done this before, but I would think, after you mark TDC as described,

# of teeth are on the FW = N

360 /N = degrees per tooth = D

So if you wanted 15 degrees,

15/ D = number of teeth you need to move away from TDC.

well you can mark it at TDC and just get a "good" timing light that is adjustable.

you should be able to get it within a few degrees. which I am sure is closer than what most people have theres set at.

Hmmm that makes sense... but I need to confirm, so after I mark the flywheel at TDC, I get an adjustable timing light and then set the timing light to the recommended specs or whatever setting I want the timing to be (15 BTDC for H22?), and then I advance or retard the distributor until the TDC mark that I made on the flywheel, lines up with the arrow or pointer right??

Thanks.
