Default jdm h22a into 5th gen type sh?!

just to make sure. this is not possible to do this swap due to the h22a4 block casting being different. trying to help a friend out with his 00 prelude sh with a spun rod bearing. he bought a jdm h22a and was told this will not work with atts. you will have to remove and get a base trans. is this correct?!
and what is the difference between sh trans and base trans?
