guy i know used to have a 4th gen with basic bolt ons and ran a 13.7 on drag radials. 14.2 isnt out of the question.

Thanks for the backing I am not trying to fight here with anyone, just thought times were awfully slow.......why would I lie about a 14 second quarter-mile? thats not even impressive...

No one at that track was running where they should have been. There was an old Monte Carlo there, stripped out, SC, and on slicks couldn't beat 11. Figure he'd be low 10's/high 9's

back in april when i tracked my car for the first time. Only mods were I/flywheel/2.5"catback on stock header. I ran 15.1 with a 2.3 60ft and trapping speed of 91mph. I was running on stock 15", full bodykit, about 50lbs in the trunk. My h22 was also mated with the h23 tranny at the time. Next year with my new jdm h22, header, UR pulley and tuned VAFC, maybe cams,i hope to obtain atleast 13.9sec. Of course i'll be sacraficing AC, PS, BS, battery relocated.

14.2 is pretty quick with those mods, but hell i believe it. Every car is different, i have a 95 with jdm h22 i/h/e and clutch with full interior and ran a 14.7 with a 2.2 60', and that was very first time i ran with that car. Just takes practice. My 94 accord 4 door with just i/h/e hit a 15.6 so ANYTHINGS possible. just my 2 cents.

Was talking to a buddy today and he said i prolly wont run a high 14 here cause they never prep the track like at all. We are a little city with a track, dont ever really have any big events like out in sac or everywhere else, but im gonna keep trying.

With VTEC cars its all about the launch. When your tires catch you want to be in VTEC. In conclusion...practice practice practice
I made 72 runs before I hit my best time. 14.315
Here's my setup/timeslip:
2001 Honda Prelude Base 5 Speed

The weather was great 59F and 39 Humidity with a 18.19 on the Absolute Baro.
There was no one in the other lane, so i was waiting for someone when the lights came down. When I saw the green i wasn't sure to wait or to go. Then they gave me the signal, I revveed it and took off. I think I launched from 7,000 RPM and feathered it out. I have never launched so hard in my life. I can't believe that crazy 60ft on all season Falken Ziex 512 Tires. Next step...slicks!

My Setup:
Power: AEM CAI/S2 IM/Hondata IM Gasket/Type One Racing Header(2.36'' collector), 2.25'' Test Pipe, 2.25'' Thermal Exhaust, Hondata S200 on a P28. Dynoed around 188WHP/140TQ
Suspension:TEIN SS Coilovers(set at 10/16),Stock Wheels,Falken Ziex 512 tires(set at 24psi/40psi).
Transmission: Stock Tranny, Clutch, and Flywheel.
Weight Reduction: I have stripped out the back of my car. The weight reduced from the items taken out is 117lbs, factor in another 15lbs for lighter I/H/E and that comes to 132lbs. So the curb weight from 2950 is now 2817.

Do you mean stage 1 cams or clutch?
By the way, I'm ordering some slicks and welds drag wheels within the week. I've got an exedy stage 2 clutch ready to install, and the SPC 4 wheel extreme camber kit, once i get all that **** on the 1/4 ain't gonna know what hit it.
Much love to all you prelude draggers :-)

60 ft and how fast you shift make all the difference,

my best with a stock 4thgen vtec other than a dc sport header, was a 15.23 @90 mph, my best mph was 93, so i coul have gotten a better time..

1993 Prelude SRV - H22A1 with 200XXXkms, with Short Ram, Trust header, Greddy exhaust on 17 inch enkeis with Khumo tires (garbage, I will never recommend that tire, not even for a burnout competition as they don't smoke nice haha) and my first run ever was 15.5, got her down to a 14.8 at the end of the day.

Not bad for an oil burner.

For barometric pressure is lower or higher better?
Same question for altitude?

higher presure means more air density if temperature is not too high. and you want lower elevation,

if its a cool humid day and at sea level and you can get the tires to hook up you will run the best times..

i agree on the practice launching. check your tires pressure, set it all even and at stock pressure to start with. i would reccomend launching around 4k rpm, and ride the clutch a little longer than usual so the rpms don't dip below 3500. keeps the motor happier longer. make sure you're not shifting too early either, you want that motor to wind all the way out. the other thing i like to do is "preload" the clutch a little. i'll have the motor revving with the clutch pedal halfway up, just BARELY starting to kiss, but the car not moving yet. that way, when the light changes, you just let go of the pedal. this technique doesn't work for everybody, but for some it greatly helps reaction time.

I have a friend that swapped a d16z into his EG hatch stripped. (was from his EG EX that he swapped a B18C). Basically, he started out at 15.9, and with NO MODS AT ALL, he was able to drop his time to a 15.02, over about 6 months, and only modify his runs and launches. Basically, he taught himself to drive the 1/4 mile. I wouldn't believe it, if I hadn't seen him at the track every weekend, just beating the snot out of that little hatch. 125 stock HP, and no mods, except a race cat, and he would pull the intake tube off, for his runs. Just goes to show how much technique can affect your times....
