looking to buy car that needs work. head tapping noise.
http://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/cto/3469390454.html
says no smoke but tapping noise from head. just curious what this could be. i thought valve problems normally ment smoke.
just curious what it could be since it seems like a decent deal. even if the head is junk is there much market for these parts? im sorry that this isnt in the value thread if it should be. its just in any of the other sections it takes a while to get any info back and craigslist stuff comes and goes quick. also there is some tech. i figured i would kill 2 birds with one stone.

Autotragic trans + B21 motor = disaster. He says the trans shifts smoothly though.
He thinks you can swap any B series motor in there like the B16/B18 etc. from the Civic/Integra which you can't. Prelude B series (B20/B21) are completely different.
B21 tends to burn a lot of oil so the noises it's making could be due to being run low on oil a lot.
For $500 or all those trades he's looking for it doesn't look half bad however.
Not a big demand for parts from this car, especially being it has the B21 and automatic, but you could buy it, fix it up and if it craps on you, you should be able to make your money back...even sending it to the junkyard, or taking your time and parting it out.

Re: looking to buy car that needs work. head tapping noise.
ya i looked into the motor and i saw all the problems and differences :/ he said he is willing to deliver it to my house. and wants to trade for a parts truck and cash on his end so im thinking about it. but i was going to just part it out and if there isnt much of a demand for parts i guess im going to pass unless its a decent amount on top. thanks for the reply.
