yeah image doesnt work but if its the green "prelude" (written in cursive) then yeah it was a rare jdm option. sadly its illegal here to have green brake https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emsad.gif

check to see if light is getting through if it is then the bulb isnt bright enough or the window is tinted too dark mine works just fine

Pics are so dark it's hard to see how it looks. Anyway I'm more than happy with my spoiler 3rd brake light. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

Re: JDM Honda Prelude BB4 3rd brake lamp (94Vtecluder)

There are 2 same but different JDM third brake lights. The one in your first pic is a regular third brake light with a jdm panel the says prelude, actually glued to the brake light. When the brake is applied, no light is able to be seen through the panel.

There is another one, which i have, that when you push the brake, it actually lights up the word prelude in green (the color of the electoluminesent guages).

The one is your top pic is the one that won't reflect. you can tell the difference by looking at the top part of the light. If you can see a red reflector, it will not light up. Mine are the bottom 2.

Re: JDM Honda Prelude BB4 3rd brake lamp (Riptide101)

dang so i got shafted well i should just make the light more brighter or something because i took the red piece out and now you can see prelude in green but not as much as yours

Riptide101 09-12-2007 03:57 PM

Re: JDM Honda Prelude BB4 3rd brake lamp (cfran55)

Must have had fun taking that glue stuff out. Thats what is blocking the light from coming out. That and because off the red reflector, not much light comes out anyway.

Re: JDM Honda Prelude BB4 3rd brake lamp (Riptide101)

so yours doesnt have the red backing?

Riptide101 09-13-2007 04:22 AM

Re: JDM Honda Prelude BB4 3rd brake lamp (cfran55)

No. Basically where you have a red reflector, I have a clear one. SOme came stock like that.

RattyMcClelland 09-13-2007 12:20 PM

Over here in the Uk lots of people have them on their JDM imports. Its not a brake light at all. If they had the green light then the third brake light was on the spoiler. This is just a fancy lettering showing PRELUDE. It isnt illegal over hear because its not a brake light and isnt the brightest thing.
I had one and modded it to illuminated PRELUDE when braking as these green lights stay on when lights are on.

I should really introduce myself anyway. Great seeing americans modding style of Prreludes.

Re: (RattyMcClelland)

Yeah, I accidentally bought one of these fake ones, then sold it on ebay for more than I paid. Had a guy in Japan that sent me parts and asked him to look out for an authentic one. Took a couple of weeks but this one actually lights up the word prelude.

On my way to England in a couple months. Plan on bringing my prelude over with me.

yea how did you make it more brighter.

Re: (cfran55)

Thats the way it lights up stock. It might be even a little darker than normal because I changed my guages to blue so I put some blue film in their also. That picture is also with regular bulbs. I am thinking of getting L.E.Ds.

I bought the inside roof panel and installed this third brake myself. My car came stock with a spoiler with a brake light on it so I assume I am safe with the cops. I just tapped into the power wire going to the spoiler and thats whats powering the third brake light.

As I said before, where you have that red reflector, I have a clear one. The red isn't enough light to get threw on yours but the main issue is the glue thats keeping the prelude panel on the red reflector. NOTHING is getting threw that so I won't be surprised if you don't see ANYTHING lit up
