Default How to tell what tranny?

I bought a 95 JDM H22 tranny.. just wondering how to tell if it is a true h22 tranny and not a h23 or f22.

Thanks,
Greg

What is the code on the bell housing? should be M2....if it's M2A4 it's a JDM H22.

You mean where the bar code is on it or on another part of the tranny? because there is no bar code anymore.. just hoping i didn't get screwed on the tranny. i'll know when i get it in.. but is there anyway to tell from any other part of the tranny..?

Thanks,
Greg

the only #'s i found on the tranny are in the cast and they are PX5-3 this is located on the left side axle face if the tranny was in the car. its the place that looks like a web. anyways. i have an h23 tranny and a f22 tranny.. i compared and the old h23 tranny has the same code PX5-3 and the F22 tranny has PX5-5.. so i'm hoping that i didn't receive a h23 tranny again or i'm gonna be pissed cause i will have to wait yet another week.. maybe even two.

I really doubt you'd have problems with a good condition H23 transmission. I've always preferred taking each gear a little longer. Especially when you're making a lot of power

IF its in the car lean over and look down. the tranny code is stamped in near where your barcode used to be. M2A4 comes with the h22a swap, just like mine did. Good tranny, also gear ratios are very similar on the h23a tranny so you wont be able to just tell by speed

nothing, but for people running N/A H22's, a lot of the time h23 trannys will drop them out of vtec because of the longer gear ratios.
