Hesitation with no check engine light ... try this
Hi,
This would be my first post here ... I have been following up on this hesitation issue since it happened to me all of a sudden couple of months ago.
Here are the symptoms:
When starting cold, car runs great. Pulls hard in all gears and RPMs but as soon as the car gets warmed up (usually in about 5 mins), anywhere from 1500 to 4000 rpm car pulls like a donkey! (As in really slow) Once in VTEC though it pulls better.
No check engine light or code... BTW this is a JDM H22a in a 93 SRV (Si VTEC in the STATES)...
Things done trying to solve the issue:
1. New header ... no change
2. New cat ... no change
3. Swapped the mapping sensor ... no change
4. Advanced timing ... no change
5. Cap and rotors ... no change
6. Inspected wires and sparks ... did not change since they looked good.
Was thinking about changing the O2 sensor and the Knock sensor next...?
So after thinking about whether to spend more than $400 dollars for the sensors ... I tried putting new spark plugs in there.
Viola!!! Car pulls real good whether cold or warm, problem fixed.
The old sparks were actually only 2 months old. They were NGK copper ZFR6F-11 I believe ... I replaced those with PZFR6F-11, which come stock with my engine.
Moral of this post:
Before spending all this money for expensive stuff, try putting in Honda recommended spark plugs ... NGK PZFR6F-11 (not hotter or colder just 6F).
I hope this works out for you guys as well

My 93 srv feels like a dog in between 2000-4000rpm. I did put all new plugs in, but I didn't gap them myself...I think they might have a bad gap or else I need a new knock sensor .

If they looked just black, you might have colder than recommended plugs in there. If they look kind a sticky or wet black then there oil leaking in.

If you buy the ones from Honda, they come pre-gapped

i tried changing to sparkplugs ngk's, but the real problem was my vacuum lines and my sfc vtec controller. i sold the vtec controller, fixed the vacuum leaks and after that the car is running great until now.
i guess we have different kinds of situations. goodluck to everyone.
