Help w/ installing ARC box in 5th gen.

Ok, so I always wanted to an ARC intake and I finally won one off ebay for only $120 shipped, good deal I know. Anyways it is for a 92-95 civic, but I heard of people making them fit on 5th gen. prelude. so I was wondering if anyone has ever seen/done/know how to fit this in. Any pics or how to's would be great. Here is a link to the ebay auction.

An help would be great. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emsmile.gif

You will definetely need a longer pipe. I suggest either buying a cheap ebay intake pipe or custom make one from homedepot or something. Good luck dude!

Here is a pic so people dont have to click on the link:

You could use your stock prelude intake arm and have that going to the arc box. Otherwise i would get a t5h gen short ram off ebay (30bucks) and use the arm from that.
As for mounting the box, youll have to figure out a way to keep it from moving around. maybe fab some mounting tabs or something.

Good luck, post pics when you get it figured out https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

K here is the way to do it.

1) Sell expensive blingy non-performing intake and make some $$ back.

2) Buy the following: 3" ebay intake, bpi flowstack, and kn rf-1048 filter

3) make more powa, vtak better, and for less $$

damn brosef stole the words right outta my mouth....

anyway..figure it out on your own...i mean its not that hard to realize you need to add/subtract piping and then go and do it

JDM_WHR 11-13-2006 04:50 AM

I'm not talking about the piping I figured all of that out, I was wondering about fit of Box, since the battery is right there, and was thinking I would need to get a smaller battery and mount in the inner frame near the tranny, custom weld a boxand bolt into engine bay. Y/N??? http://images.honda-tech.com/set1//smile/emcrook.gif

why? they gave you an even better setup than what you will (if installed) have??

i don't get it...don't you want MORE power?? i guess not.

Re: (petern101)

thanks for the link

I wasnt thread jacking, if anything this helps you out because now you know where to buy the funnel as well. You should listen to all the advice given so far. ditch the bad air box, get an ebay intake, K&N filter, flowstack and enjoy probably twice the power gains you would from that box.

One more question, do you have to remove the battery and relocate it to install this intake system?

if you make it a cold air, then no.

what'd you dyno at?

AccordRacing 11-27-2006 05:54 AM

that thing looks fake as hell. That pipe is certainly not ARC, nor is the filter (look at the difference its not even a question) .. unless this is some original filter from 1993 when they didnt know how to make filters .. your really gonna use that filter?

this top pic is of an actual Civic EG arc intake.
http://www.pcauto.com.cn/qcyp/gaizhu...j_07_thumb.jpg

https://i20.ebayimg.com/03/i/08/c7/90/2c_1.JPG

and a new ARC filter is going to run you $95 .. o wait you need 2 huh? that will be $190 . Plus how do you expect to not suck in hot air?

I would definitly stay away from that THING. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emthdown.gif

mgags7 11-27-2006 06:10 AM

Is this really still going on?

choose anything from the following: ARC box, aem, injen, weapon r, etc

they're all a waste of money

we have told you what the deal is with intakes, now be done with it.

JDM_WHR 11-27-2006 09:31 AM

I know the piping is wrong, but it is a real ARC box, it just has a older filter in it.I polished the box and put a new emblem on it and it looks brand new, now i just need a new filter.
