Default H23: Replacing seals while t-belt is out

Howdy---

As some of you know I am slowly working to refresh my H23 while it's out of my car. Currently doing the timing belt, and I figured I may as well replace some seals down there while I"m at it.

My question is - how can you be sure these seals are seated properly/won't leak, aside from using the seal drivers that the Honda guys use? The seals I'm doing are:

1-cam seals (prob pretty easy)
2-front balancer shaft seal
3-front crank main seal
4-maybe the o-ring behind the rear balancer shaft gear case, between it and the oil pump? Apparently the dealer does this oil o-ring w/ timing belt change.

Any advice / know-how related to replacing any of these seals would be very much appreciated

Thanks.

Are you also changing out the water pump?? It might be a good time to do that too.

How many miles are on your H23??

Yup I agree, got the water pump done already. Got this H23 from a guy who wrecked his car, 110k on it at the time it was pulled.

Thanks-

Thanks for the replies folks....

Knocked out the cam seals this evening. Was looking at the front main seal too...what's the best way to get that bugger out? looks tough. I had a loose oil pump from my blown engine, and I couldn't get it out w/o pushing it from the backside. Will be tough to do that with the pump on the motor...

Any other advicet? Thanks.

you can carefully pry it out with a flat head screw driver or mini pry bar. I stress CAREFULLY, you don't want to scratch up the crank surface. That's how I took mines out.
