Default H23 intake manifold?

Ok, so I've seen this question, and read the answers already on this forum as to the fitment of an H23A1 intake manifold on an F22A1. So I know that it's a direct bolt on.

What i haven't seen discussed, however, is do I need to do anything to my ecu or fuel system to see the power gains for my 96 prelude S from an H23 intake mani, or can i just bolt it on and go?

one way is to wire an RPM switch.
you can use a shift light
when it reaches a certain rpm..itll send a signal to control the actuator on the vacuum box under the manifold
probably best to install a relay and fuse in between

got mine to work properly and now i can let my secondary butterflies open whenever i want

thanks for the info! ill definetly look into these options. i really want to give my car a little more power so i can enjoy it for at least a year until i can upgrade cars.. i don't want to do the whole h22 swap though because I have an auto and id have to install a bunch of stuff along with the engine.

the butterflies are to add low end torque for daily driving, and open at wot or a certain rpm for more air flow correct?

Basicly your right... You can just take them out and scream on the top end

Why would it "scream on the top end" with the butterflies out? The butterflies open up at a higher RPM and throttle position anyway. So...it'll "scream" as much as normal on the top end. It'll be kinda boggy down low with the butterflies out.

i understand it being boggy down low, but a lighter flywheel would compensate for this correct?

The bog isn't that noticeable in the low end, I gutted the butterflies out of mine.

There is a benefit to taking them out, without them the air flow in the manifold is less turbulent.

i read in another thread that removing the iabs is only effective if a spacer is added. i think a thats completely open if you get what im saying

When you actually take one apart you'll understand.

If you take the butterfly plates off you're left with an actuating rod going through the middle plate, its much less turbulent than having plates in there.

Messing with that means a spacer or all new bolts and who knows what other misc BS ... just unscrewing them from the actuator rod and leaving the rod in there ... sooooo much easier
