I have a complete H23 and I just bought an H22 Head. I have been doing a lot of research the past couple months on H23 VTECs and i have a questiont hat i havent been able to find the answer too. I know you are supposed to change to the H22 Water Pump, Crank Gear, H22 Tming Belt, Etc. But is it possible to use H23 Cam gears on an H22 Head. If the H23 Cam Gears will bolt up to the H22 Cams then there would be no need to switch to all H22 Gears and Belt. So, will H22 Cam bolt up to H23 Cam gears??? Please let me know... Thanks.

Hmmm, this is a good question. I don't think the H23 cam gears fit the H22 cams....but i am not positive. That is a question I would like answered too.

But what you say makes sense.

Yeah, I can't tell if it sounds like a stupid idea or not because i have no idea about the compatibility and differences(except for the teeth spacing) between H23 and H22 Cam Gears. I guess I will have to compare the two Cam gears one I recieve the head, unless someone on hear has tried this in the past or has the two sets cam gears and cams to compare, or already knows for a fact... I hope someone can help... Thanks(I did find somewhere that one person said that they **** bolt up fine but he didnt seem to have any proof or evidence and one random person saying yeah isnt good enough)

No you can not use the h23 cam gears on h22 cams
but you can use b-series (at least b18 for sure) on h23 cams

yes. I believe the b18b cam gears and h23a1 cam gears are the same.

Actually, his question is can the H23 cam gears fit on H22 cams.
I know that the one difference between the H23 and H22 cam gears is that they have a different number of teeth on the gears. Besides that, I am not sure if the H23 cam gears fit onto the H22 cams.

Anyone know for certain??

Has anyone at all ever compared the H23 and H22 Camshafts and Cam Gears??? They look like they would fit together but I wonder if there is a timing reason or something why they wouldnt function properly. I don't know. Please help...

well b18 cam gears work on a h22 cam jw i am doing a g23 but i don't wont to get new parts if i don't need to let me know

The tooth patterns are different. The gears would physically bolt to the cams, but they wouldnt work because of the tooth spacing/number of teeth on the gear wouldnt match the timing belt. This is the main reason you also have to change the crank timing gear and the water pump.

H23a1 and b16 gears are the same. H22 are a bit larger and i think have more teeth.
