Head variation questions - P13 vs PDE
Hi all!
So, my prelude was due for a rebuild, had knocking, major oil burning, etc. Got a block and head from a guy on craigslist, but my HUGE mistake was not getting the caps with the head. I had NO idea that the caps were special between each engine, but to my dismay I discovered another issue. I bought a P13 head, I removed from my car a PDE...so of COURSE my caps wouldnt fit the P13. So here's my dilema...what about the internals from my P13. Ive read that the valve angles are different between the two. I hate the thought that I'm out the 350$ I gave the guy for a head that, while was rebuilt, cant be used because he no longer has the cam caps. My head has MAJOR damage to the valve seats, so much that the machine shop wasn't confidant that they could do a proper valve job. But if they could, can I use the valves, springs, seals and guides out of the P13 head and put them into the PDE with no issues?
What a nightmare...
Oh, yeah, mine is a 2001, the one I got the engine out of was a 1997. Might be important.

Re: Head variation questions - P13 vs PDE
just swap your valve springs and cams from 2001 to that 1997 and use the 1997 head?
it would be maybe a good idea to change LMA's and valve seals of course
If I remember right newer A4's just have slight better cams and due to that little bit stiffer valve springs than older A4's
