looking good, yeah definatly a MUCH smaller turbo would be benificial, i mean you should get a boost gauge and try and see what rom you actaully reaching target boost. nice job though !!

yea it sucks i dont have anything smaller! it probly woundnt make more power then 300s with a smaller turbo but i guess if u boost more then 10psi yea but how long would it last or can it take more boost>?

Re: (hybridpatient95)
Is anyone doing anything allmotor for this setup? I'm thinking about doing it, but I'd like to see some setups that have at least been tried.
87x97 sounds good to me.

I know, its taking freakin forever. Car is running and drivable on a Neptune ECU, but not broke in or tuned for full throttle duty yet. and now its not running again due to gas tank being removed. I am expecting at least some where near what 2.6 has dynoed, any thing less would be a major disappointment.

Re: (The_Head)
I'm considering doing a high compression build up with the G23 VTEC setup.
I have the block already but I'm hesitant to start this project.
I wanna go all out or not do it at all.
For custom pistons, rods, and balancing the bottom end I'm looking at close
to 2k invested in the block alone.
Decesions, decesions
You guys know of anyone succesfully running a high compression g23vtec?

I never priced out the crank work but I do know that my local performance shop charges by the hour for crank work. So if they can do it quick yet with attention to detail then sure go for it.
In in SKDRCR's situation he should be able to get custom rods, pistons, widen the F23 rod journals and balance it for $2000 IMO
Or take an existing H-series block, sleeve it and use shelf Rods/Pistons with the H23 crank.
I would just go with stock crank and rods and custom pistons that have a total weight less than 320 grams or less and rev it to 7500. If you want to take it to 8000 then go with pistons that are 275 grams in total weight. Balance the assembly and run a thicker oil. If you spin a bearing then find another cheap F-series block and rebuild it.

who makes these custom pistons? which company would you perfer? and around how much would they go for? thanks

From what I read in the offset grinding thread, you can't offset grind an F23 crank if you want to use B rods, their little ends are already the same diameter. You would have to open up the journals tho, cause the F23's are .780 and the B's are .9XX... I dont think that would be too bad, Rick told me offset grinding with heat treating is about $400, I do not know how much it would be just to open up the journals.
But anyways, I'd just get some longer B series rods (with the wrist pin moved up or down depending on the length of the rods), custom pistons (which were only around $500 for me) and have the journals opened up to accept the B series rods. I think this has already been done even.

Re: ...G23 VTEC...(56K...Definitely Beware) (prelittlelude)
Wow... I missed out on a lot because this thread hasnt been in my watched topics list... I have looked at it since like 2 or 3 pages ago... Glad to see more people getting interested in the g-series options... As for my next setup I think it will definitely put down some power....
I obviously don't have a prelude anymore but I have almost everything I need to put an F-series in my 97 civic... Here is the plan for the setup of which I have most all of the parts....
F23 Block(Balance Shafts removed - No p/s, no a/c)(All new bearings)
Stock Rods (looking for aftermarket rod bolt options)
9:1cr 86mm Forged Pistons/rings
H23 Head (stock cams/valvetrain)
H23 Intake Manifold(with insulating gasket)
ARP Headstuds
Here is the kicker...
OBX Equal Length Manifold for H23...(I love to be a test dummy but I don't think it is going to break, the quality is surprisingly good and the manifold looks awesome...)
Turbonetics t3/to4b
Tial 35mm wastegate
HKS ssq blowoff valve
Manual Boost Controller
450cc DSM Injectors
Hondata s100b
6" Intercooler(2.5" outlets)
3" downpipe/Exhaust
Mount kit with crossmember for front mount....(not sure what brand it is)
The goal has been for it to be done and tuned by the end of this month and I think that goal is still attainable... Going to tun 10 psi till I get bore with that but I think 300whp is possible and with all the torque in a civic I'll just need some traction... Wish I had an lsd...

Haha... I'll get pics up as soon as I can... The manifold is sitting in my room on a chair with the turbo and wastegate bolted to it...

Re: ...G23 VTEC...(56K...Definitely Beware) (Sam1am26)
hey sam is that obx's new ram horn turbo manifold for the h23? and for rod bolts one of the guys i was talking to about them was telling me about the d-series rod bolts. a local shop of mine wanted me to bring my f23 rod bolts in to measure them to see if the d-series one's would work but i never got around to it due to using an h22a4 crank on my f23.

Re: ...G23 VTEC...(56K...Definitely Beware) (boosted93vtecprelude)
Yes it is the new ramhorn style obx manifold for the H23... i got it off ebay for 250 so i figured i would try it out... As for rod bolts I'm sure ARP has a rod bolt that is the same size as an F23 even though they don't have them or know they are the right size... I'm sure I'll find something... I'm just wondering if I should get rods too...
