Ferrea heard lots of good things about them thats why I just got them. Crower valvetrain , a couple of months ago I read on another board that bout 12 - 14 people were having major trouble w/ crower valve train. Thats my reason for staying away from them.

I know a couple of guys (3 too be exact) running Crower valve train and are very happy.. I guess it depends who your talking too and weather or not they know what their doing? Most of these posts on Crower being bad gets passed on by people who either don't know how to install a valvetrain or hear things second hand on a weboard like you have.....

When you are researching information you obviously have to read things second hand from people's experience. If you dont install any product correctly it wont work properly and can be damaged. I too thought that they installed it wrong. But when 12 - 14 people have the same thing happen to them, it kinda makes you think. They all said it was from their own experiences, it's possible they all could just hate Crower and have been lying.

I too have a friend who had the whole crower valve train. Drove it hard for a year and no problems, and was very happy with them. Like I said this is just what I came across when I was researching. The only bad thing I heard about Ferrea was the price was a little high. 93ludevtec wanted to hear what people thought about the different brands so I gave my opinion.

I agree w/ you Ferrea does make quality products from what I've heard and seen. I think the whole Crower story comes from a bad batch of cams that had gone out.... This has been corrected. I can also say I've seen the Skunk Cams work wonders on an ls/vtec setup too...

Ferrea ....very good quality parts and workmanship....the ferrea springs are very stiff (finished installing head, PnP by Portflow w/Ferrea valvetrain, yesterday) and you will not float a valve with these suckas

Every single one of those are quality companies. Skunk2 is a bit new in the engine internals area but the other products that they've shown have shown that they're one of the best buys. Crower there has been mixed results with... Ferra I've only heard good things, just that they're expensive.

Just remember a couple things before you start revving the **** out of your engine... Even with cams and headwork your powerband won't come at any higher a point as it did before.. prehaps just a bit... If you want to rev higher you'll need too make power up till 7500 or 8000 rpm which 100% requires some kind of 2.5 inch exhaust from the headers back (SMSP?) Lot of guys think cams an retainers will make them faster cause they can rev higher which is just not the case....

i'm going to dyno tune it so i will know exactly where my powerband is, i was just wondering how high they can rev, so i know. also u dont think the powerband will move up, w/stage 2 or 3 cams and cam gears, as well as EVERYTHING else that can be done to the head, the lobes are so big on those cams that the powerband has to be moved up. and yes i'm increaseing the compreission to work w/the cams

thankx 4 all the help

i haven't driven it yet....i need to get a new flange welded on my downpipe and i need new studs for the turbo manifold....when i was putting on the timing belt and adjusting the valve clearances, i could feel how considerably stiffer the ferrea springs are compared to stock....i am only going to rev as high as my engine will make horsepower, probably 8000 rpm give a take a few hundred rpms....i won't know until i get on the dyno....no use in putting extra stress on the motor when you are not making any more power....also, you could mix components but i like to use only one product brand if they make the parts....i'll tell u how it feels after i drive it later this week
