F22b1 vtec wont start
i put a f22b1 vtec motor in my 92 prelude type s to replace the f22a1. everything is wired up and it does turn over, but it wont start. im not getting any spark and i dont know why. i bought a new ignition module and its on its way, but i was wondering if there is any other reason that i wouldnt be getting spark. i have tripple checked all of my wires and grounds, and the f22b1 has an internal coil. the f22a1 had an external coil so im not sure if that has something to do with it or not. anything is appreciated.

Re: F22b1 vtec wont start (Saosinx)
i used the wiring harness for the f22b1 motor, so everything plugged up to the f22a1 engine bay harness, except the ground for the fuel rail, but im not worried about that because the most it does is run into itself

Re: F22b1 vtec wont start (Prelude_1992)
why don't U use the f22a1???? Almost every swap uses the harness from the original car. U mentioned, the plugs plugged in but are U sure all the wires matched......????????

Re: F22b1 vtec wont start (mongtite)
mhm everything matched, and i bought a new ignition module today, and put that in, but im still not getting any spark. so im thinking that its my coil thats bad. im going to buy a new one today, but if anyone else knows why i could possibly not be getting spark please let me know.

I ran across this a while ago. I can't remember exactly, but wiring for internal coil is different than external. IIRC the differences happen at the dizzy and the fuel pump. I can't remember all of it, but check for info on swapping to jdm H22 (it is internal coil) from f22a in prelude archive (FAQ) and accord forum. Should be same wiring. GL.

Its the internal /external coil. Your harness is compatable as far as I can recall. Some one correct me if I'm wrong.
I believe you just need to pick one and go with it. I think internal coil is what your suppose to be running though as far as simplicity and as far as making it as close to what the manufacturer intended.
I don't think its your coil either. Do a resistance check on the primary and secondary coils in the coil pack (instructions are in hanes service manual, or the factory service manual). Even so though, the resistanances even if in spec doesn't mean that the coil is fine. Temperature has interesting affects on coil packs, let me tell you (cold and hot) heheh.
good luck dood, keep us posted
