Easiest way to remove h22 IM nuts?
wanting to remove the intake manifold from the head (head removal).
4 nuts on the top of the manifold...whats the best way to get to those? i dont want to disassemble more than i have to. what in your experience worked best thanks in advance |
Re: Easiest way to remove h22 IM nuts?
It's not the top 4 that you need to worry about. It's the bottom 5. You can only get to them with a box wrench and it's going to be tight under there. No real special method. Just tedious.

12mm box wrench. make sure you use the closed end. and if you need more leverage, slip the closed end of a 13 or 14mm box wrench over the open end of the 12mm wrench

oh if memory serves me right the bottom ones (along with the support bracket) were a B but the top ones you can even get to without removing something or other, like the fuel rail

i just used a ratchet and a 6" extension. i've taken it off 3 times that way.
might have to do with not having that vacuum box or a charcoal canister or any of that stuff back there. |

There is a wrench made by snap on that u can turn every nut from the top. I crack the bottom nuts first . Hand loosen them. Then remove the easy top ones last if u do it opposite the manifold weight goes on the bottom buts and makes it more difficult to hand loosen. Tighten in an inside out pattern
