Re: Earthing?? (rjr162)

To be honest, I did mine for less than like $30, that's with spiffy connector ends and such. I had some extra 8 guage monster cable from some amp installs I did and used that, Used two runs side by side to the more important sections. Takes a little time to get the wires the right size.. i can post a pic if wanted.
Do post a pic, if you would. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emsmile.gif Also, did you notice the kinds of gains that the wrx mentioned above apparently had? have you taken it to be dynoed recenly?

Anyone who has dynoed this, please post. I have read a lot of positive posts, but no dynos.

Re: Earthing?? (kotetu)

there are no prelude specific kits that i've seen thus far, most of the one's i've seen for the compact cars are universal, and have some slack, the, only kit i've seen for a non turbo car, is the integra one listed a few posts up. what your going to want to ground is the, valve cover, the block, vtec solenoid (if applicable), alternator, and the intake manifold, the starter would be a good idea too.
i've seen a few dyno's but don't have the plots, most turbo cars will pick up quite a bit of torque due to the fact of static charging because of the turbo, but i have seen some fairly decent gains on an ls vtec, 1.8hp, and 4.6ft lbs of torque, due to high revving the grounding would be a good idea to go with, the faster the parts move, the more the potential for static charge. here's a good idea to find out if grounding would be a good idea, drive your car for 10-15 minutes get out of your car, put your hand on the door and shut it, now if you get a shock, obviously your chassis ground to your engine/tranny and what not, isn't doing it's job as good as it can, because there is static charge left in the chassis

Re: Earthing?? (stockludesi)

So my getting shocked when getting out of my car COULD be from my recently installed amp? Hmmm......it grounds to the chassis, and if the chassis isn't grounding as good as it could be.....

getting shocked

when you get out of your car. put your hand ON the door before you put your feet on the ground. it will eliminate your getting shocked (for the most part)

Re: getting shocked (Crate)

technically yes, but considering you never have a perfect ground you still could get shocked, depending on how much static charge your body has built up

Re: getting shocked (stockludesi)

Or just cheat and touch your key to your door lock while your finger is touching the key. I'll post pics of what I did hopefully tomorrow if I don't forget my cam

ok forgot my cam, but i have tomorrow off so I can do it then :-D (friday)

if you had some leather seats, your problem would go away

Overall view of engine:
http://shell1.csionline.net/~rj162/pics/ron/pic1.JPG

Pic of battery neg ground:
Here you can see the two strands of 8 guage used for the battery to chassis ground. I also filed away some of the paint that would have been under the chassis connection to improve the contact area
http://users.csionline.net/~rj162/pics/ron/pic2.JPG

Pic of ground to tranny:
Note> the connection to the tranny is right above the AC line tap (shinny copper right below starter. This line was 4 strands of 8 guage)
http://users.csionline.net/~rj162/pics/ron/pic3.JPG

Pic of ground to head and to valve cover area:
Two strands of 8 guage used here for the line to the PS mount, and a single 8 guage to the valve cover
http://users.csionline.net/~rj162/pics/ron/pic4.JPG

I checked all the sections of the engine with an Ohm meter and the intake manifold on mine really doesn't have much resistance between it and the battery. I might throw a line in on that later, but it doesn't seem as if it would make too much of a difference there. The ground from the head to the battery would be the most benefical since this will determine what type of spark you're going to get.

Oh, and for fun, my pretty lights!
