2 questions in 1. Maintenance question and free mod questions.
this is for a 93 JDM H22a
first... lets say I was going to change the timing belt, water pump, and head gasket.
Is there anything else I should change while the engine is out?
Is there any aftermarket crap I could use for these? ... for example, a spoon head gasket that would raise the compression a little?
Also, is there anything I should know while I am doing this stuff that you guys would like to tell me?
next set of ?s are for free mods.
I took off power steering, and air conditioning, is there any other free mods I can do to the engine? (I know someone was saying something about the EGR valve, not sure what though, and I did search )

I wouldn't pull the motor just to do a T belt and head gasket.
Maybe port the head as long as it's off.

you can re-route the coolent line that goes into the intake manifold so it bypasses it, but only do this during warmer temps. oh, and you can also start ripping out interior peices.

you should also change the oil pump. while the t-belt is off, get some cam gears.

My budget is very low. I am pulling the engine no matter what, so I am doing these things while it is out just for the sake of it.
the IM gasket is kinda cheap isn't it? like 60 bux or so? I might get the cam gears also, now that you mention it. But the port and polish will be a little too expensive.

if its got the auto tensioner for the belt.. dont forget to change that too..

Get some prodrive oil pump gears.and change the main and cam seals since the engine will be out,and get tha tbracket to hold the front counterbalance shaft seal.I think honda sells it.The h23 timing belt tensioner is a very good idea also.
