Difference Between

Sorry if this seems like a noob question but what is the difference between resurfacing, milling, and decking a head/block? When people say milling a head/block is it the same as resurfacing a head/block or different? Can someone explain to me the difference between the 3 if there is any? Thanks.

They are all saying the same thing, just different synonyms.

Resurfaced means the shave only .00"*" amount off just to make flat again, not for performance.

Milling or a shaved head means more materiel was taken off to increase compression ratio for performance. like .010"-.040"

Decking is the same principle as milling but to the block, or "deck".

Resurfacing is only really needed if you have overheated the car, or its a new head on the engine.
