Car won't idle after installing cam gears!
I just finished putting my new cam gears on an hour ago and now the car won't idle. When it first started up, it was idling OK, but after it warmed up and I took it out, it will start out at 800 and fall to zero in about 2 seconds. I've done everything I could think of. Before I put the gears on, I matched them up to make sure all the teeth matched the originals as well as the keyways. Now that it's on, I made sure all the allen bolts were tight and they are. Also, when the flywheel is at TDC, both cams are pointed up as they should be. Belt is tight and isn't rubbing against the valve cover or anything, nor have the cam gears slipped (middle timing cover is off so I can see everything as it's running). I'm wondering if it's just because it's so hot out. The car has idled like this in the past, but usually just in the cold. Perhaps I should reset my ECU? Anyone have any suggestions?

Well, it looks like when I had it first on, it was ok, but now that the engine's run, the belt set itself back up and the intake cam is one tooth off. The exhaust cam matches the flywheel at TDC, but the intake cam is retarded by a tooth. Luckily, it's not off enough to bend a valve (I think), just make it not idle. The car ran fine going down the road, just no idle and **** for bottom end

Re: (InvaderTrax)
Well, there you go. Set the timing back and turn the engine over by hand a few times to make sure the timing stays set...if it jumps again keep trying until you get it. I had a bitch of a time getting my timing right the first few times I did it.
