Re: cam gears on stock cams (RC's ride)
I don't know how badly tuned it was before the dyno, but I got 12 whp with cam gears with stock cams and a slight advance on timing. I lost a little mid-range torque to get the extra horses. Before tuning: 158 whp, after: 170 whp. Thats with I/H/E/cam gears/ underdrive pullies. Not that great, but an improvement.

my money is on the advance of timing. cam gears allow u to move the powerband up or down.

They also allow you to adjust your overlap.

make sure you get keyways cause the stock cam gears have them built in.

firstly keyways are the things in the camshafts and in the gears....the keys are seperable from both....
#35 is the key....seperable.....your gears probably just had them stuck in....
ps. please excuse me if my grammar or spelling is wrong.......etc

Re: (mgags7)
i've seen people cut circles in the front and on other engines the whole cover is removed but i don't think you can do it that way with h22s because the valve cover and cam gear cover r one...correct me if i'm wrong ..how have you guys done it.. SEEEYAAA

one local guy gained a respectable amount of horsepower from cam gears on a stock-cam'd H22. As said above, playing with the overlap can move the powerband.
And to Skunked: according to my Dyno program says you will only gain about 1 HP with every degree of advance you run.

That's about right.....
I think it was +2 IN, -1 EX on the stock cams.
