99 Prelude SH with 04 Accord Engine and Tranny Swap Axle Popping out Issues
Hello All,
I've got an issue with my passenger side Axle popping out within 50 Miles of replacing. I have had at least two different axles put in, and over all, had the axle firmly snapped in 5 times in last two months before it pops out on me and my passenger side wheel leans inward once popped. This issue has plagued the hell out of me and any mechanic I have brought it to. My tranny fluid will leak from where the boot slides out of the tranny as well. C-Clips are good but not sure what could be causing it. Maybe inside of differential but my tranny guy doesn't think that's the case because he says my wheel leaning inward seems to be the problem, providing a force that pulls the axle out even thought the wheel doesnt lean until axle pops out. I just had upper and lower ball joints replaced and control arms and everything else in there seem good to me and my mechanics. The car is lowered like an inch or two sitting on 17" Enkies with 205/40 ZR17 84W Kuhmo Ecsta 4X tires. I know the difference between the two trannys is my old one was LSD with ATTS and the tranny out of the accord is neither LSD nor ATTS. I did the engine and tranny swap about 5 years ago and haven't had any axle popping out issues until in recent months.
Any help would be greatly appreciated because I have already sunk 1,500 trying to figure this out and refuse to just scrap the car as I want to sell a safe and reliable non-lemon to some up and coming honda enthusiast. Thanks in advance!

Re: 99 Prelude SH with 04 Accord Engine and Tranny Swap Axle Popping out Issues
Hey sorry for the delay. Had to get in touch my everyone who has attempted this to see which axles they used. It appears as though everyone installed a prelude axle, two of which being different lengths(I assume its because of of the difference between base models and the Type SH) I own the 99 SH model. The engine is the H22A if that helps. Transmission came out of the same 04 Accord.

Re: 99 Prelude SH with 04 Accord Engine and Tranny Swap Axle Popping out Issues
your story is kinda messed up:
its not really possible to use that new accord (theyre with K serie engines) transmission with preludes - whats the tranny code?
You can use F serie transmissions...but theyre from older model Accords.
and with SH engines you have to use ATTS transmission so you swapped base JDM H22A (?) engine there but youre talking about SH model?

Re: 99 Prelude SH with 04 Accord Engine and Tranny Swap Axle Popping out Issues
Story of my life! haha
Yea I think when I was hurting for cash 6 years back, I got screwed by a junkyard salesman out in Cali and by the time we got the engine and tranny out to GA I couldn't afford to pay shipping so it is definitely a Frankenstein.
The Tranny code is T2W4-1001743
Engine Code for the H22A is 5001718.
Crazy thing is that this car has been my daily driver for the past 5 years no problem. Thinking I might need to go the route of an accord Axle since I just learned everyone has been trying to put prelude axles in lately.
Thanks for the help!

Re: 99 Prelude SH with 04 Accord Engine and Tranny Swap Axle Popping out Issues
T2W4 is LSD transmission from JDM H22A Accord Euro R (1999-2001)
so look into what people have used with Euro R swaps
PGE and Hasport have probably suitable driveshafts - cheap ones might act like you described.
Look into base model driveshafts - SH model are different and they might pop out since they lack some attachment points compared to base
