Does your check engine light come on when you turn the key to "On"?

This will confirm your check engine light actually works.

Re: 95 vtec h22a running to rich

Re: 95 vtec h22a running to rich

So your check engine light works, that's good news at least.

These cars are OBD1, up to 96, the check engine light generally means that a sensor has stopped working completely. OBD2 cars have a check engine light that indicates when the engine isn't running right.

Just because the check engine light isn't on, doesn't mean everything is OK.

Re: 95 vtec h22a running to rich

Have you checked that you actually have spark on all four cylinders?

Also, you can do a poor man's engine health/compression check. while the motor is running pull the plug wire off each plug in turn. Does pulling the wire off any cylinder affect the motor less than the others? If you pull a wire and it doesn't affect the way the motor runs, you have a weak or not firing cylinder.

Re: 95 vtec h22a running to rich

A P72 will run your car, with a tune, you should have a P13.

Re: 95 vtec h22a running to rich

you said the car was stock.. what is really done to it?

typemismatch 05-31-2011 06:33 AM

Re: 95 vtec h22a running to rich

I'm not giving you anymore ideas until you come clean on what is done to your car.

A VTEC controller is a garbage way of tuning your car, not to mention, you could easily have bad settings and bad wiring.

Re: 95 vtec h22a running to rich

Question? i got the psi gage for the fuel rail.... Wat should dat be set at?

typemismatch 06-02-2011 02:16 PM

Re: 95 vtec h22a running to rich

I think it should be around 40 psi.

I just don't understand how you could have problems with running rich and not mention that you have an aftermarket fuel rail, fuel pressure regulator, and VTEC controller ... seriously?

It didn't cross your mind that bumping up your fuel pressure might cause your car to run rich??

What about the VTEC controller? Is it a V-AFC? If so, the "AFC" part of that acronym is "AIR FUEL CONTROLLER", don't you think that's a mod worth mentioning, when you are having AIR FUEL RATIO PROBLEMS?? That is what "RICH" means, TOO MUCH FUEL in your AIR TO FUEL RATIO ...

Seriously man, I'm not really interested in tearing you apart, I'd rather see you get your car fixed and be happy. When you don't mention vital changes to the system you're having problems with, how do you expect people to help you?

Not to mention the ghetto TXT speak doesn't help your case, it makes you seem even more ignorant.
