93 h22a starting issue
I have 93 h22a swapped into my Civic I realize this section is for preludes but I figured I would ask you guys since you deal with the h22 on a daily basis. Anyway I'm at my wit's end my car doesn't want to start it's like the colder it is out the more it has to crank, some times it takes like 20 minutes to get it to start but after it runs and gets warmed up you can shut it off and it will crank once or twice then start every time has anyone else had this issue?

Re: 93 h22a starting issue
Ive had only crank issues 4 times
1) distributor cap was collecting moisture - newd cap, wires, plugs and rotator
2) fuel map/tune was bad
3) valve adjustment was off
4) ignition switch was bad
Timing could be one issue more but you dont say did this started suddenly or after something. And we don't know your maintenence history or how you did your swap...

Re: 93 h22a starting issue
First I want to thank you for responding. As far as ecu It's running the stock h22 ecu and I got the car swapped already so I'm not sure what maintenance the previous owner did, not much I would assume. I purchased the car for less than the swap cost I had a shell and wanted to do the swap and found one done for less than the motor I was looking at and I see why now. I've tried plugs, wires, fpr, fuel pump, I'm wondering if it could be a bad injector or a bad tune. I'm just ready to throw in the towel I've been trying to figure this out since summer 2017 and can't figure it out. I just know that the temperature plays a big part the colder it is the harder it is to start, the warmer it is the easier.

Re: 93 h22a starting issue
which stock ecu? USDM? Or JDM?
well it can't be the "tune" if it's a stock ecu.
Have you actually done any diagnosis? Have you done any maintenance? Like valve lash adjustment, compression test, check timing belt alignment, see if all 4 injectors are firing, see if all 4 plugs are firing, check trouble codes, etc.

Re: 93 h22a starting issue
Ecu is JDM h22a. I took my distributor cap off and found a vary fine red/rusty colored dust.... What could that be from, moisture? And I've not had any sort of valve adjustment or compression test done. I've only done the things I stated before plus a fuel pump because someone told me it could be the check valve and I had an extra so I changed it. I've honestly not had much time to mess with it as I'm the only one working and have a 7 month old baby now.
