Default engine question

lately when I turn on the car, and I'm driving around. The engine sounds really loud. I can hear my engine while playing music. I just did an oil change not too long ago. What can it be?

did you put in the right amount of new oil after the change? might be a rod knock from you running the engine with not the correct amount of oil. post a video of the noise.

^I wouldn't go as far as rod knock, the head starves of oil before the block, low oil can make the valves noisy. Make sure level is proper, let it sit for 15 mins on a level surface and check to make sure it's at the top dot. If it's full then a valve adjustment may be needed.

I think I may have put too much. I put 4 litres and a half. It's super noisy. I would post a video, but I don't have a video camera. What's the best weight for a h23? I thought a thicker oil would be better, because it burns oil.

I guess I was wrong. >.>

I'd just use 5w/30, if it burns, it burns, you put a tad too much but not enough to hurt it.

You are talking about the non VTEC H23a1 right? If by the chance it's the H23a from the Accord CH9 wagon then you didn't put enough, would be around 5.2qts.

i run 10w30 mobile 1 syn oil it is great never a problem. its the same oil ran in f1 cars, so it must be good. i go to the track sometimes so that's my kicker to run a little heavy oil for the hot days. when you say the engine sounds loud do you mean a knock or ping sound or just a louder sounding exhaust? the flex pipes on these cars go bad and usually do it slowly witch causes it to sound louder, when the flex pipe goes bad sometimes it is hard to see where, watch feeling around on it because one of those little sst braided wires will poke you deep if you give it a chance. look for exhaust suite somewhere around it first then if you cant find it then dive in with that hand......it does sound like you may have to much oil in there, don't fill over the max on the dip stick, i check it shut off and give it a minute to drain after it was running and then check it. if it above the full line drain some asap don't run it until you do!

I run eneos full synthetic ... I burn quite a bit though, through the turbo not the engine ... my return line isn't a straight shot like it should be.
