Nice, but even with a new cluster if the problem iz elsewhere it wont do me any good. I need to diagnose first. If the problem iz my cluster. Down to buy lol

or you can buy a new cluster for 45$ and if it fixes the problem your happy. If it doesnt, at least you know its not the cluster. one less thing to look at and its the simplest to fix.

sell the crappy *** 19s and fix your dash homes.if its not a bad ground or a blown fuse, then you probably need new cluster.

Hi,iv'e been looking at my electrical wiring diagram, and the common part to the two gauges is the engine temp/fuel gauge circuit board behind dash, does your back light work for these gauges!!, if not it could be a common earth, there are two earths on this circuit .
If i knew how to send pdf. pages i could show you!!

I see that the clock and dash light brightness control get their power and ground from the Eng. Temp./Fuel Gauge. Control circuit. Since both these work on my car what else might be the problem?? I dont know if this info helps but my low fuel sensor and warning light both work.

check your fuse under your steering wheels near the kick panel and your fuse on your engine bay.

I'd say most likely need to just replace the gauges. I actually had that happen on my old 4th gen. It sucked b/c I would always have to top her off b/c I was afraid of running out of gas. I bought a new gauge cluster off of ebay and it fixed the problem. Pretty easy fix, just a lot of screws. I'd say it's worth the $45. Good luck.

Hey thanks fruity. That actually really helps! Other people have told me just get a new cluster but its much more reassuring when it comes from someone who actually experienced the problem. I think im just gonna buy a new cluster and hopefully that will fix my problem Unfortunately thingz are so hard rite now itz not even funny and i dont even have $45 buckz to spend lmfao. Otherwise n0rmal would be getting a PM rofl.

You can't be serious...? So, I guess I shouldn't say that I'm in the same boat--have already bought a new cluster that I knew was working and am still having the issue? Not trying to be a jerk, I just figured that'd be the first choice to do if you were having an issue. It also doesn't help that there are two other, more recent, threads regarding this same issue that haven't gotten any responses at all.

Either way, I'm planning to find out what the issue is with mine this week, so if I figure anything out, I'll let you know.

buying a new "junkyard cluster" wont help.....this is gambling.the "new" gauge will work for u maybe for a week or a few months if u r lucky. This is a very common problem for a lude above 15years old, some had it fail when they 14.the only rememdy to solve this is find a good condition working gauge again...open it up n clean the circuit board carefully with some solvent and change all the dying components n most of the time....the CAPACITOR.That's the only cure for the digital temp/fuel gauge.....my lude currently is running on the fifth cluster i ever had....a "recondition" gauge...

This is my first post, but I've been a long time lurker. I used Circuit Board Medics to rebuild my gauges, and they were excellent to deal with. Here's a link to their Prelude cluster rebuild service:

Thanks for the link efizzle... didn't want to spend that much, but maybe that's my best bet... mine stopped working a long while back.. at first it was intermittent... would work sometimes but not others... then it worked less... and less... and not at all (even when I went across bumps in my hard *** suspension, lol)... I think the low fuel light either got really dim or also stopped working... I ran out of gas once, and decided not to cut it that close again in an attempt to see if it was working... I use my trip meter for a fuel gauge, but I need that temp gauge...

Had a recent coolant leak and scare... figured I better get this resolved to be on the safe side...
