1989 Honda prelude SI 4WS
Hey so there’s a 89 prelude si 4WS for sale near me and I’ve been wanting one for so long. I’ve got two questions though, are they reliable cars and good for modding? Also, this specific one has a problem where it runs fine when cold but when it warms up it runs rough. It also needs a catalytic converter and a muffler and the alternator needs to be put back on. Is it worth getting and trying to fix up(it’s 500$ but dude is whiling to negotiate)? Keep in mind I’ve never worked on a car seriously so this will be my first experience. I’ll post pics of the car as well. Thanks again

If you're looking for a car to modify, no, the 3g prelude is not a good choice. I love these cars like nobody else, but the aftermarket support for them is terrible. Especially for someone just looking for things they can bolt on here and there.

^^^agreed. These are great stock cars, but anyone modding them would have to be masters of fabrication. I suggest you find a 88-91 civic or 90-93 integra if you like box Honda’s with pre-tech motors that can be tuned easily.
I also suggest you start with a good running car and learn to fix whatever it throws at you over the length of your ownership. This way, you’ll know how it’s supposed to feel, and you won’t be so easily frustrated by trying to fix multiple problems all at once.
