Nothing wrong with trying to save a couple bucks but when tires are the only thing touching the ground I don't think it's something to cheap out on. Plus this isn't looking for opportunity, it's looking for the cheapest possible price on a so so tire. Plus if you get them offline shops will typically charge you more to mount them since you didn't get them there. Plus add in shipping and you would've done it all cheaper from the dealer in the first place. Unless you've already said expletive dealers and use trackside tire mounting or do it yourself

If you never shopped around, I'm sure you've wasted a whole lot of money in your life and ended up with the same product. Why not buy from store A if it's 20% cheaper than store B? I understand supporting your local bike shops and stuff like that, but this is a tire. The tire doesn't suddenly become crap because they're selling it through an eBay store...

I'm not saying don't shop around for the best price. I'm saying don't cheap out on tires. Don't get 208's off of ebay cause it's the cheapest stuff around that you've found. Get some good rubber for the best price. But buying online isn't as always good as it seems since like I said lots of shops charge more for mounting since you didn't get them through them.

Well, if his reason for choosing the tire is that it's cheap, then yeah. The tires are around the top of the most important components. I don't cheap out on tires for even my truck. I don't really know what a Dunlop 208 is, though. If it's only a decent tire, don't do it. You can get great tires for only a few dollars more.

Re: (JHenley17)
why spend money on outdated tires I just had a set of 2ct's put on and my old tires were 208's service tech was amazed that people still had them. Spend a little more and get something good I bet you would be pretty pissed if you wrecked "your baby" b/c you decided to be jewish when looking for tires, if you want to stick with dunlop's consider the qualifier friend of mine has a set on his r6 loves em.

Re: (gsr-2nr)
Didnt Dunlop D208 gp came AFTER the qualifiers? And the reason i look on ebay is cuz other sites charge 170 plus for the same EXACT tire. The shop that i go to charges me 65 flat wether its on or off the bike cuz i do a lot of business with them. And as far as me looking specifically for D208 is because i just bought a rear one and try to have them matched. No need in throwing on two brand new tires when the rear one only has 800miles on it. If ebay is the cheapest source than why not take this deal unless someone knows of a better site where i can order it?

IF they are charging you 65 to mount a front tire OFF the bike, i do believe your getting hosed. I can go to a couple shops around here and get it done for $25 (+disposal), never have been to them more than twice.
I got my powers from sportbiketrackgear.com best price i found...

yeah you if are paying $65 off the bike you better find a new shop. Local shops charge $25 fron and $35 rear off the bike.
Ebay is going to be your best bet,
or try here

smaller shops tend to be cheaper w/ mounting, esp on loose wheels. a local shop near me mounts for 12/tire off the bike (if you didn't buy there) and 10/tire if you did.
$45 to mount w/ wheels on the bike, 30 if you bought them there.
not saying that all shops will be this cheap, but cyclgear charges 70+fees to mount on loose wheels. total burn.

Re: (bad-monkey)
for a high performance tire maybe so but lots of people don't need that which is why I haven't recommended the pilot power or the diablo corsa at all
