For those who took the riding part of the driver license test and passed, what kind and size back did you use?

A 1994 Honda Nighthawk 250. Took the test in Va in 1996. I had to ride around the building twice for the skills test, heh heh...

in florida, you have to take the MSF course to get your license now. at the end of the course, they give you a card you take to the DMV to get your license.

I would like to take the test with a smaller bike, how difficult do you think it is to pass the test with a newer 600cc sport bike?

dont the modern tests get passed by taking the MSF course?

in the old days we had to take an actual driving course similar to a obstacle course a police officer would take.

Figure eights, multiple circles in both directions... timed acceleration along a curve... hard braking along a curve... coming to a complete stop pausing and accelerating away without putting a foot down... cones in both directions... Physical inspection of the bike.

No, you are wrong about the MSF course.

At the end of the MSF you take the same test you would take at the DMV. The MSF just helps you prepare for the test. Just signing up and going to the class doesn't mean you automatically get your license. You can still fail the course and not get your license. And the end test consists of everything you mentioned you did in the "old days"

Who said anything about automatically passing the test?
The reason for the post is that the OP wants to know which bike to use... MSF ill give you a 250 to take the test, that's the easiest route(Specially over a 600 sportbike). keep up TOW

Does CA still have a two-tier endorsement: less than 500cc and unlimited? I seem to remember you would have to test with the displacement you wanted to be endorsed for. In WA, you don't have to take the skill test if you pass the MSF and get the cert and there is only one endorsement type. I think that explains a few of the casualties on the roads as people learn on the 250 and buy the biggest HOG they can afford or think they need.

I don't remember California having that system... I don't remember any state having that system.
