Slow starting

Well i finally got the bike all fixed up and does start, but it is very slow to start and i need to give it throttle to start. But once started it goes and also when warm only takes secconds to start. Any ideas on what could be wrong?

do you turn the choke all the way on for cold starts?

check the battery, if you didnt maintain it over the winter it might be bad.
