r6 or cbr600
im sure you get these posts a lot and i have read the newbie biker sticky.
I want either an r6 or 600rr as a first bike. i do have experience with 2 wheels as i race my yz250(2stoke) although that is dirt. ive also taken the msf and rode a honda rebel there. would they be suitable for me? everyone says start on something small like a ninja 250 or 650 but i feel like i would get bored of the power as my yz250 would probly smoke them acceleration-wise |
Re: r6 or cbr600
go with the 600rr, girls drop panties for them
|
Re: r6 or cbr600
RR over the R6.... more low end & midrange, more comfortable
|
Re: r6 or cbr600
get a 650, you're severely underestimating how capable they are.

hope this is helpful, unless you've already made a huge mistake by getting a cbr  |
Re: r6 or cbr600
If you're going to go brand spanking new, I'd get the R6.

im gonna be the dickhead in this thread and go with the r6. you're correct my man on all of this, but why would a beginner want "more" low end and midrange? i cant really think of a reason, for a beginner less is more, the r6 has to reach the top of its powerband(8k) for it to do anything spectacular.....which this bike is, granted its a '06+.
hope this is helpful, unless you've already made a huge mistake by getting a cbr  |
Re: r6 or cbr600
Do you plan to ever actually corner hard or go to the track? Or is it purely a poser bike?
If its a poser bike, all the mag stats/reviews/etc dont mean a damn thing, get which one you think looks cooler If you plan to get to the track, get the R6 |

To a novice or slabber, yes, pretty much.
That soapbox diatribe being said, I echo ITR's suggestion, buy the one that looks best to you, that's honestly all you seem to be looking for. |
Re: r6 or cbr600
Rode both used to work for a Honda dealer and loved riding the new 600RR, but it boils down to this. What do you feel more comfortable on. The R6 is definetly more track orientated than the RR. Your new you prolly won't be trackin it anytime soon. So get what feels best to you ride both an come back to us.

Re: r6 or cbr600
900RR
|
Re: r6 or cbr600
they're just as fast as each other. none of us could really ride the R6 hard enough to make it the "clear" winner in any track comparison. well maybe a couple of us. WSS wins, Mag shoot-out lap times, racing results in general--there are too many variables to use these as a clear way of choosing one over the other.
it comes down to preference. they're all very good bikes. |
Re: r6 or cbr600
Maybe its just me but i thought the R6 was more comfortable than the CBR600RR.

Re: r6 or cbr600
I dont think the op is one of the people who has to worry about the power of these bikes. If he races 250 two strokes im 100% confident the power of these 600s will not overwhelm him. As a healthy 250 two stroke is capable of doing 0-60 in about 5 seconds, and thats in dirt. Either bike you pick will be fine. Theyre both almost exactly the same in speed. I have a 600rr and my friend has an r6. Theyre pretty close, performance wise.

Re: r6 or cbr600
i'm a bit biased here as i own one, but go with the R6.
that being said, like others have asked; what are your goals/intentions with the bike? |
Re: r6 or cbr600
i cant really be biased since i own a gixxer, but if ur just buying the bike to cruise around on then most people on this thread are right, get the one you feel comfortable on

Re: r6 or cbr600
when i bought my first bike i was dead set on buying an 600rr but when i got to the dealer i sat on all the bikes and went with something totally different.like stated earlier, there are very little differences performance wise.do what i did and try them all out and see what fits you best.whats good for someone els might not be the best for you
