quick question on helmet sizing

just wondering if the ratio between the size of the inner lining and outer shell are the same (size small = smaller circumference of the helmet and size large = larger size helmet) i ask this particular question for Arai Wraith model, i dont want to look like alien with a size small jacket hahah

i've heard that with the higher end companies like arai, shoei, suomy, etc. the outside shell of the helmet is made according to the sizes. but with the cheaper brands like HJC, they only make 2 or 3 sized helmets and the inner lining differs based on the size. someone correct me if i'm wrong.

Arai tends to be on the smaller size.

Some riders think that when they first start riding. I believe small has its own shell, then mediam and large are the same and the X sizes might have one or two more shells.
What size do you wear?

Re: quick question on helmet sizing (Son)

I figure, all brands have their variations. When I took the msf course, I borrowed my friends rx7 sized large . It fit me well. Then when i decided to buy my own, I went to a store and tried out the Icon, medium fitted me well so i got that size.

point of the question, I just bought the rx7 off of ebay for $265 shipped. The size was a large, but i had doubts wether i was going to compromise my safety if it was too lose. But then i remembered my friend's rx7 that i borrowed was a large and it was a sure fit https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

thanks everyone

Don't forget you can get cheek pads in different thicknesses for Arai helmets to customize the fit.

If they sell the helmets, they should have them or be able to get them easily. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

yea, a bunch of those companies have different measurements when it comes to sizing. arai and i think suomy and some others run a size larger. or i think shoei, hjc, icon, etc. run a size smaller. you have to go to the company's site and check the helmet sizing measurements.

Most powersports sites that sell that brand of helmet have accessories. I know KneeDraggers has lots of accessories, check with them.
