No garage? where do you keep your bike?

I am wondering where you guys without garages are keeping your bike. I have been thinking about building a shed or something, have any of you built your own shed? I keep mine on my back porch with a cover on it.

I wish i had a garage but this really is my only option that is practical. Sucks cause i have to do all my maintenance and work outside, i have done all my engine swaps and all work to my car outside.

Build a shed; not too hard to do. Friend built a nice one for his old nova in a weekend.

I don't think he spent more than $500; bought a truckload of 2x4's, plywood, etc. Framed each side of the shed/garage then put it all together.

Keep mine in a storage unit like a block from the APT. Cant beat that. Just a long walk to the garage I say.

thats a good idea really, i don't know how much that costs you but its WAY cheaper than theft insurance... however i think my paranoia would make me buy theft coverage too...(theft coverage here is well over $1200 for a year)

Re: (DusterDC5)

Isn't theft included in comprehensive?

Newfie 06-28-2006 06:43 AM

i dont have a garage yet (going to get one built this summer) but i do have a driveway and my bedroom window is right next to it, so i just park it there with the alarm on. Bike is only like 4 feet away when im asleep.

I need to figure out how to turn down the sensitivity on the alarm tho, everytime the wind blows it chirps. Oh well, atleast i should catch anyone trying to steal it.

parking lot. cover it every other night

chitownrida 06-28-2006 07:58 AM

one of my guys who lives in the city keeps his locked in his backyard with a cover

disc lock/ bulldog chain to fence/ cover/ alarm

so far so good
*knock on wood*

i'm going to be facing that same situation with my new condo.. only outside parking.. i may have to just leave it at my folks garage

p nut 06-28-2006 08:35 AM

No way I'd leave my bike outside. Not only for theft issues, but weather related, as well.

Just buy a Tuff Shed. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif

Buy a Kryptonite Noose. The way it works, it gives you a lot of slack to work with. http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-YORK-K...wItem

Yes, and comprehensive here is about $1200 a year depending on bike, my zx-7 was $900 and it was an old beast.

There's gotta be something to chain it to. A tree, sign post, car, another bike, a prostitute, a lamp post, a fence.

yeh OUTSIDE, are you nuts, they'd take a whole telephone pole to steal a bike here, chain it to another bike and they get a fuckin bulk discount!....we had a couple bikes, so a guy stole one of the trucks in the underground, loaded both the bikes into the truck and drove the truck through the gate....so yeh.

I was thinking yesterday how funny would it be if I picked up a hooker and when she asked me what I like, I would say "I actually picked you up to walk our dog".

uh... in the parking lot of course... https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif I've had both my valve covers off in the parking lot and had the tank, airbox, and carbs off for about a week while I was waiting on parts
