Insurance Question (And Not About Rates)
Just wondering what everyone runs? Full coverage, liability, theft, vandalism? What kind of insurance combo's do you run? A friend of mine says its not worth having full coverage. What do you guys suggest? I don't care what you guys pay.
Thanks

Re: Insurance Question (onepoint-gsr)
I got a quote and full coverage was really expensive, so I was thinking about getting liability with theft, vandalism, and uninsured motorists. I don't have any wrecks or tickets so I assume the reason it was so expensive was because I'm under 25.

Re: (marmaladedad)
I only tried one place because I went through the same company that my car insurance is through. How many of you have different bike insurance company then you do car insurance?

amex for car, progressive for bike.
I pay something like $55 a month for full coverage.
1. if you're under 25, it's going to be more expensive
2. The type of bike you have makes a difference, and not just "sport" versus "cruiser" but which model exactly. Total value of the bike makes a difference, and how other people have acted on that particular model makes a difference.
For reference. When i went from an F4i to an RC51 (which was worth more) my rates went down, because less douche hats ride RC51s in comparison to F4is.
When I got my SV my rates plummeted.

I would recommend a combination of the following for a bare-bones policy w/o a loan on a bike. If you wreck and are at fault, there is no Collision to help with your damages; collision is the most expensive coverage. The listed numbers are the minimums I'd use.
Liability: BI25/50, PD25
COMP 500 deduct
UMBI25
UIM25
UMPD10
MED10
PIP
I'd say the medpay and pip coverage are the most important as they help with medical expenses and lost wages related to injury. Keep in mind an ambulance visit is $2k; life flight is $10k... Disregard the medical if you have good health insurance with a low deductible though.
p.s. Full coverage typically implies that one has maxed out all the available coverages and is onto an umbrella policy. (i.e. BI limits of 500/500k)
