Re: gear question (zc911)
If you want more protection get them, I wouldn't ever wear it for street cruising but if I was going to hit the twisties really hard I would wear them

the jeans are marginally better than normal jeans, but the reinforced knees on them are going to ride up when you fall. it'll help somewhat, but it won't be real protection.
kneepads are a good medium b/w 2pc suit and jeans and jacket.

Jeans wont do crap for you when you touch the ground. If your really want peace of mind then you need to buy leathers. A* FTW.

Re: gear question (moores55)
so basically the jeans are useless without these then lol
I am going to pick a set up
i'd be pissed if i went down and tore me knees up just becuase i didn't spend $50
someone should make jeans with armour in them, maybe someone does?

Re: gear question (zc911)
do yourself a favor and just get a nice set of textile or leather pants.
Preferably a pair that zip in to a jacket. If you start sliding on your back without at least a 2-piece then your jacket will ride up and you'll get a bunch of rash on your back.
My friend was just going 3 blocks down to get something to drink. Put on his helmet, dainese leather jacket, sidi boots, and dainese gloves. Hit gravel in a corner and slid on his back for maybe ten feet. He ended up with a basketball sized spot of rash on his lower back that took a few weeks to heal.

Re: gear question (rdblckSV650S)
the jacket has leather loops/snaps to go though a belt or loops in pants to hold it down.
who makes some textile pants?
also how did you friends jacket get that high? Mine fits snug and doesn;t seem it would move more than a few inches up if i don;t use the loops
Or maybe i am wrong, oh wiat you said lower back

If you're sliding on the ground feet first your jacket will just ride on up unless it's held down in some way.
Everyone makes textile pants. Check out newenough.com for great info.

Depends on the construction of the suit/jacket/pants. Textile can be made more abrasion resistant than leather, especially for the given size/weight of the material (in comparison to cowskin).
Example - Aerostich Roadcrafter suits.

Draggin' Jeans dont have armor per se, but they are kevlar reinforced in the knees and hips/***, so they wont discintegrate like normal denim when you go down.
*edit* they actually do have knee armor that velcros inside.

Re: gear question (Voyage34)
excelent info thanks guys
newenough.com has some good reviews. for one my calfs are too big for the icon knee armour. Going to get the Alpine stars instead
Those draggin Jeans seem pretty nice too
Also going to make sure i ALWAYS use the loops on the jacket to secure them to the pants
