FZR600 Starting problems
 

Hey guys, I'm having a starter problem and was wondering if I could get some feedback.

My FZR600 is not starting up when I press the start button (no sound at all, not even a click. yes, the engine switch is switched to "run"). It's been getting progressively worse. It used to take a few minutes of giggling and then it would start, but now it just doesn't start at all. The battery itself is fine. I volt-metered it and it reads 12.4 volts. The headlights, turn signals, neutral light, etc. all work fine when the ignition key is on.

When I turn the key to on, all I see is the neutral light. When I press the start button in, the red oil light comes on for as long as the button is pressed, but I check the oil level and it's right in the middle (oil changed not long ago).

My friend came over and tried to troubleshoot the bike. We started it up by pushing it down the road manually. It worked the first time and sounded strong as usual. So it's not a problem with the engine. We think it's a problem with the starter solonoid, or something in the starter sequence. Does anyone have any idea how to fix something like this, or should I bring it to a mechanic?

i take it to the shop and have them troubleshoot the starter. You have narrowed it down to the starter so have them check it. Look after market for a starter celnoid also. it will be cheaper.

dude, it's not your starter. more than likly the start button. at least, that's a cheaper place to start. and don't pay someone else to troubleshoot electrical problems, cost too much $$

if you wait a couple days, i can scan the wiring diagram from my haynes manual.

if the bike has been stored outside (ever), the contacts within the start button itself corrod and no longer make contact. pull the right side switch assembly (have to disconnect throttle cable), remove the switch (don't loose the spring), clean the contacts, add some dielectric grease, and before you reassemble, bend the spring so it will make the contacts well, contact better.

do you lights still go off when you press the start button? oh, bad thing, the start button is not sold separatly from the parts department (if it can't be repaired) and the entire switch assembly is like $140 or so.

I have that a problem as well.My f90 FZR 600 won't start when its sits over nite at first but if i push it it will run fine then after that it will start with no problem at all
So what could be the problem
