What's the fastest you have gone on your bike... how firm are they?

GSRwBOOST 10-13-2000 11:47 AM

Poll kinda gets messed up with any votes.. but you get the point...

RCLGSR 10-13-2000 04:59 PM

i was dumb enough to do 130 on the freeway....keep in mind that i dont own leathers....

GSRwBOOST 10-14-2000 06:47 AM

not wear leathers..... ouch!

I did 150-155 on my bike.. it's as fast as it would go with my ass on it. A very big rush and very stupid in hindsight. What cars there were, came and went so fast I couldn't tell what they were. Bike was like a bullet, no headshake and very stable....

If life begins at 160.. I'd hate to see what it's like at 200.

Benjamin Tang 10-16-2000 01:35 PM

110mph trying to draft a semi. like everyone else has said... looking back in hindsight it was one of the most stupidest things i've done. the engine was making sounds i never heard before and i was scared it was going to blow up.

GSRwBOOST 10-17-2000 07:13 AM

Ben, what bike were you on? Betting it wasn't a big one, from the sounds of it...

Benjamin Tang 10-17-2000 08:29 AM

85 Yamaha FZ750 Genesis... the year when they only had the half-fairing :(

sloazzbimmer 10-18-2000 10:17 AM

I have had my bike up to 165, 500rpm into the redliine, with out a helmet. i might squeeze 170 out of it but i would be into the rev limiter. i have a pic just not sure how to post it, new here.

RCLGSR 10-18-2000 12:27 PM

how the hell could u have done that w/o a helmet?? ive ridden down the street w/o a helmet and the wind makes it impossible to see!

Benjamin Tang 10-18-2000 01:44 PM

ditto... i can do barely do 30mph before my eyes dry up, and i wear glasses...

sloazzbimmer 10-18-2000 01:52 PM

I usualy wear a nice set of Oakley's and tuck my head the best i can behind the windscreen, kind of a bitch on the 900RR though, not much room for your head. half the time your glasses fly off from the wind coming across the screen. thats a trip i don't really care for, that and loosing a contact, now thats a bitch.

BDiddy 10-30-2000 06:22 PM

Ive seen the edge my friends and it is scary. I have gotten to the elusive 175MPH mark. Yes i was clocked with a gun. I was on a modified 99 Busa. Silver and gold. I was wearing a complete race suit with a $800 Arai helmet and a big back protector to not only cushion the blow if i fell, but to also help the arodynamics. I was on a public road but it was 27 miles of straight a way. Was it fun? Fun is not the word. It was a flippin rush and a half. Ill never go to that speed ever again. Its just too dangerous. I dont advise anybody to break 100 on a public road its just not safe. Oh i still had a couple hundred RPMs to go up to top that baby out. But i wont be the one to do it. Maybe someone else though.
Seth

RCLGSR 10-30-2000 09:26 PM

you might as well wear t-shirt and jeans and a $100 HJC helmet - at 175mph there isnt much that can help u! still, i give u props for goin that fast

racerEX 11-20-2000 08:57 AM

160 on my '98 CBR 900RR and 165 on my brothers Hayabusa

RaceBred 11-23-2000 10:38 AM

DAMN! you guys are animals! Im planning on getting a bike in the near future ( maybe longer than that heehee), and ill heed your warning. I dont even think ill have balls to hit 100 :) Props to all you guys.

Wlcum2themachine 12-16-2000 01:49 PM

I have seen 180 on the speedo of my 98 gsx-r 750. Keep in mind that stock speedos on bikes (and cars) are NOT calibrated so my actual speed is unknow. I would estimate it to be near 170 since i was near red line and the tested top speed of srads range from aprox. 167-174 depending on conditions and the bike itself (manufacturing tolerences).
I have also seen 140 , from the passenger seat!!
I used to hit 150 about once a week.
Sold the bike though :( But since I'm a mechanic at a BMW/Ducati/Triumph dealership I still get demos for the weekends. I know it's a tuff job but someone has to do it ;)

UK Spec B18C6 12-24-2000 10:11 AM

I had my 'blade up to a shade over 180 on the clock...it took a bit of doing with a thing the size of me sitting on it, but it was running sweet as a nut!
The bike was completely steady, and I had my helmet pushed against the tank. The reason I had to back off was the fact that the wind pushed my helmet back onto my face so hard that my Oakleys were starting to cut my nose, and the front section of my helmet was starting to stop me from breathing properly!
Afterwards I had a sore neck for about a week :-(

Glen.

I've gon only about 110 on my f3 but have hit 150 in my car. I dun plan on hittin any higher speeds on my bike because even at 130 in a car is pretty stupid.

jinxproof99 02-21-2001 02:53 PM

181. i know some have seen up to 184....stock

Re: (Knightsport)

I have a picture that I took on my old GSXR of the instrument cluster and the road ahead doing 125(indicated). BTW in order to take this picture I had to sit up and take both hands off the bars. I actually had it up to more like 135(indicated) but when I sat up and let off the throttle it slowed down really fast, huh wonder why?????

On the track I have done 135-140 indicated on the front straight away more times than I can count.

But the highest speed I have ever gone, on the ground, is indicated 167 on my stock R6. I did have the minimal sense to wear a one piece with body armour and Kevlar, my RX7-RR4, kevlar gloves, and armoured boots. I figure it was really somewhere in the 150s, but DAMN that is fast. I didn't actually make it to the bikes top speed, it was just that I ran out of room to keep the throttle open.

Had my CBR1100xx up to 260kmh... but that was before it was totally broken in, jetted, filtered and piped.

She should push warp factor 7 now....

Stay tight till you get back down under 130Mph. I know of a few guys who made unintended departures by raising up too soon and getting blown off. It is amazing how much braking power/control and time is needed to get back to 70 Mph as well. Not for the faint of heart or rational thinkershttp://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emwink.gif
