84 VF1100C High Idle
Hi folks, new to this forum.
Ive recently put my 84 V65 Magna back together and noticed now that its firing right up but the idle sits around 4-5K. I have tried adjusting the idle screw on the carb but it doesnt want to turn more than 1/4 turn in either direction. I haven't touched the fuel mixture screws on the carbs, and the carbs haven't been synced yet (I know that needs to get done.) This being said I'm not entirely sure all of my cylinders are firing either. But the motor doesnt sputter, spit or backfire though.
I understand this is what I get for owning a 27 yr old bike. But hey what can I say.
I appreciate any feedback thank you

Couple of things...
Check to make sure the throttle cable isn't too tight and keeping them open just a little.
Sync them
Make sure there are no intake leaks between the carbs and the head
Make sure the timing on the engine isn't too advance.

For what its worth, another source of type specific info can be found at www.sabmag.org. They are fanatics for V4 Hondas

The idle speed is air. If the idle is too high its just getting too much air. That can be by the carbs or an air leak somewhere but its too much air. My guess is the previous answers will fix the problem but look for any vac control that could be bad and causing the problem. It doesn't take much air at idle to cause a huge change in rpm.
