2008 Ninja 250r

So I might be running into a bit of cash in a month or two and I'll have enough to put about 60% down of MSRP on the this thing..

Does anybody know if people are still on waiting lists for these things? Used have to be available yet right?

Since it's release, has anybody heard anything new about it? Positive or negative?

I'll use this thread as a reference for any info on it..

There is another thread but its archived.. and I'd like to hear anything new or whatever anyone has to say about it.

I'm like 95% sold on this thing.. even after tons of ridicule from everyone I tell about it.. http://images.honda-tech.com/set1//smile/emcrook.gif

Great bike, good commuter, Very reliable. Safer than a 600 for a new rider.

cons? I don't see any, I'm not a fan of the seating position, I like clip ons much more than handle bars.

whats a clip on? j/w

Yea I'm a little weary of a 600... Alot of people use them for a first bike.. but alot of people advise against it. I'm going to take my chances with something smaller like the 250

I got to sit on one.. and ride around a parking lot for about a minute and a half. The handle bars are very V shaped.. like verry V shaped https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif but it was ok. Sounded like a moped/lawn mower/weed wacker.. and the pipe on it was horrendous.. but overall it felt very neutral. I made it up to MAYBE 18, 20 mph.. so not alot of room for a review but.. it was very easy to ride around a lot..

clip ons

They clip on to the front fork tubes, and give a lower forward position. Where as the ninja 2 fidity's setup is like this:

http://www.southbayriders.com/forums...ntid=125021&d=

We call that "Boner style"

10-20mph on a bike with clip ons isn't much fun, They take away a ton of low speed stability.

Re: 2008 Ninja 250r (GraphiteAccord)

I have been thinking about getting one to drive to and from work. People in my area are smoking crack when it comes to them though. I have been looking around and everyone wants like $4500 for a used one with ~1K miles on it. The MSRP is $3499. I am going to go and talk to a dealer when I get home about it and see how long it will take to get one.

Up here in the Northeast, there is still a waiting list for it. Best OTD I could find is $4000 but the average seems like $4500.

Still haven't even sat on one yet because they're leaving dealerships so fast.

ahh gotcha..

yea well I sat on one when I was at Daytona earlier this year when it was first being released or something. Felt ok.. then I got to sit on my buddies who brought one over to my job after work and thats where I got to ride it for a little bit. Felt ok.. the seat wasn't as cushiony as I expected it to be. I sit on the Buells and they're soo comfy.. oh well.. not that big of a deal.

Should I go to a kawi dealer or to a powersports dealer.. wheres the best place to look?

i dont really think u can doubt the new 250. looks great, light, great gas mileage, and its dirt cheap.

i sat on it once cause the local dealers sell out immediately. but they do sell them for 3500 msrp here in south jersey.

Re: 2008 Ninja 250r (BoostedEG6)

i personally think you would get sick of a 250 kind of quickly, but, i could be completely wrong. the thing is, if you do it with this bike, you can turn around and sell it for almost as much as you bought it for, so no harm, no foul. the other scenario: you don't get sick of it and enjoy for a decent amount of time. either way, it's a great way to get into the sport.

disclaimer: i think you are better off getting sick of a slow bike than getting killed on a fast bike. i started on, and continue to drive on older 600, so it's kind of the middle ground.

I knew somebody was brave enough to make a thread like this.

I'm going to get one this month...paying it all in CASH! https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmileo.gif

Who deals with payments these days? NOT this baller. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif

do you know the OP personally? Many people in this world are content on 50cc scooters, he may believe the 250 to be overwhelming, you never know.

its sooo comfortable comming from the RR... highway is no prob but then its kinda but not really hard to tuck because the RR has a aggressive body posture and the 250 is almost sitting straight up.... i love it... highway imo is no prob...

gotta try one out to get the full effect... everyones diffrent....

Personally, I started with a used F4i and I'm glad I did. Every dealer around here wanted way too much for one. The lowest I got quoted I believe was $4300. I only paid $4700 for my '04 F4i with 4400 miles on it. Also, I live in C. Florida so there really aren't a lot of curves around so I think I would have gotten bored with the 250 quickly riding in a straight line 99% of the time.

However, if you can pick one up for under $4000 then it's hard to argue it's value.

OP... I gotta tell ya, this is the kind of bike you want to buy used. While it will be a model that has value for its entry level abilities, but you don't want to pay full price for it because it will depreciate very quickly and probably massively... like right off the show room floor https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif

Re: 2008 Ninja 250r (MSchu)

That may be true, but the '08 just looks so much nicer than the earlier models.

No where above did I say buy an 07 did I... I just want a new rider to get the best benefit of our experience... and that would be to buy a used bike of some type REGARDLESS of origin or year produced, Just trying to help.

Trust me..... its not going to lose any value... People sell these used for $4500

I get bored of my triumph when I have to go in a straight line for anything more than a 1/2 mile. Want to have fun in a straight line? Buy a hayabusa, or are you insinuating that the F4I you bought is the new 'busa? haha

True that GraphCord even my 08 1000rr bores me if I just go straight.

I would check to see if you can even still get in line for an 08 this year. I thought a lot of people were told they would have to wait for an 09 because the 08 list is too long.
